I always was, but they were told by their mother, that Children’s Services would take them, and they wouldn’t see either of us again, if they blabbed. We could only provide a loving second home- which they came to as soon as they were big enough to rebel.

Sadly, they spent most of their childhood with her, until they could break loose. I was only partly aware of what was happening. Even now, 20 years later, they reveal new abuses from time to time.

I love GSDs. My last one was the smartest, funniest dog ever.

I remember, years ago, coming round a bend in the road in the Hunter Valley area, and 4 or 5 Wedgies sitting on adjacent fence posts. It’s a good reason to have a good dash-cam. Too often you see wonderful sights, but have no time to catch them

Musically he was great. Disappointingly, he threw a childish tantrum at people taking photos in the middle and stormed off for a while He came back but the magic was tarnished. Saw Joan Baez a week later and she nicely invited photographers for one song and then “please stay in your seats” lovely

I’m much older, and the war much closer. Dad jumped into Normandy, and we holidayed there in the 50s with my French mum, and played in burnt out tanks in the fields. When we came to Australia, mum had a German lady friend. Dad was fine with Germans, but not that lady’s Nazi husband. Dad hated Nazis

Never been a gamer, but back in the the 90s I spent an hour or 2 (no more than that) playing “Castle Wolfenstein 3D”. The appeal was shooting Nazis - that should be normalised.

If substandard means smaller, but with all the facilities then I’m fine with that. It should still be well insulated and well ventilated but a mix of single and more bedrooms is fine. Councils are a great impediment to increased housing availability
