“Trouble Is What I Do”, Book 6 of Walter Mosley’s Leonid McGill series. The redoubtable PI is back in a beautiful piece of urban noir writing that I re-read parts of as soon as I read it the first time. Usually McGill is out to find someone, but this time there is a catch: it’s find & much more. 5🌟s

The mesmerizing Pokukrom, a supermassive black hole surrounded by a glowing ring of hot gas and cosmic dust, the god of fire symbolizing purification and transformation. Space, an infinite expanse, holds untold mysteries, each waiting for its moment to be revealed. Author @venusianchron.bsky.social

This image depicts the core of a supermassive black hole surrounded by a glowing ring of hot gas and cosmic dust. The fiery ring contrasts with the surrounding dark space, dotted with distant stars. The swirling material creates a dynamic scene, illustrating the intense forces at work in this part of the universe.

A stunning spiral galaxy with a bright core surrounded by nebulae, stellar nurseries, and gas clouds. Star clusters shine through interstellar dust, while emission regions glow with hydrogen. Amid intergalactic space, this cosmic marvel may hide a dark matter halo. P.S. Science fiction 🌌 Space art

🔭 Grand Spiral NGC 5643 Image Credit: ESA / Hubble & NASA apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap24122...

Viewed face-on, grand spiral galaxy NGC 5643 has a festive appearance in this colorful cosmic portrait. Some 55 million light-years distant, the galaxy extends for over 100,000 light-years, seen within the boundaries of the southern constellation Lupus. Its inner 40,000 light-years are shown in sharp detail in this composite of Hubble Space Telescope image data. The galaxy's magnificent spiral arms wind from a yellowish central region dominated by light from old stars, while the spiral arms themselves are traced by dust lanes, young blue stars and reddish star forming regions. The bright compact core of NGC 5643 is also known as a strong emitter of radio waves and X-rays. In fact, NGC 5643 is one of the closest examples of the Seyfert class of active galaxies, where vast amounts of dust and gas are thought to be falling into a central massive black hole.
