I love this spot because you can see all kinds of architecture in a 360⁰ view. The Grange and the AGO staircase by Frank Gehry, but then there are Victorian row houses, mid-century apartments, the OCAD "stilts" building and (if I remember correctly) even a Romanesque Revival church. Very Toronto.

I was not familiar with Sandie Shaw - she's pretty cool. You may be right about the influence, but Hynde still has her own thing going on. Of course I would say that because I love Chrissie Hynde! Saw the Pretenders at the Kingsway Music Theatre in the 80s.

I just looked up the performers for this year and it looks like no US Air Force participants. There was an F-35 thing last year. I'm assuming that was an intentional omission? I mean I still hate the air show, but that would make me feel a little better about it.

I found it interesting how inaccurate some of my memories were. I had remembered the loss to the Twins completely wrong, for example. It is a very good series, though. I just wish Tony Fernandez was still around.

I saw Renee Zellweger having a cigarette on the steps of the Maronite Catholic Church at Queen and Sorauren when they were shooting Cinderella Man. The only show the interior in the film but that was cool.

The city raccoons are very good at getting into containers and solving problems. They seem unafraid of humans. The rural raccoons couldn't figure out how to open a compost bin and run at the site of person who is not particularly close to them.

As a suburban Portuguese family, we had to travel downtown to Augusta ("Agooshta" is what Portuguese people called Kensington Market) for fish, cheese, and many other things. I was in my 20s buying some used jeans at Courage My Love when I finally realized Agooshta=Kensington Market.

I was always saying this about the Indy race too. It's second-tier city thinking. It's "Let's put Toronto on the map!". Like, this is a large, thriving city - we don't need an airport in the middle of downtown or a mediocre car race to spoil what is an attractive and vibrant downtown.

I have a Delta bandsaw that was made in the late 1930s and I love it. It gets used for bandsaw things, so not daily. My lathe and jointer are from the 50s, my drill press is early 60s.
