This kid, who's probably eight, points at me and goes, that guy (Romero) looks like you

Yes it is, and it's very good. Definitely hope they add it full time.

Pat Murphy on the ball hitting the cable for an out. “Ueck decided to put a hand on it. Thanks Ueck.”

When MLB cracks down on balls barely touching the ivy at Wrigley and Cubs player instantly throwing up hands to get it called a ground rule double and take away extra bases, I'll start caring about stadium quirks

Fuck it, put the roof wire up on the Wall of Honor. It's contributed more to this club than Mike Fetters

As you can see, the ball is fully behind the post and it was called no goal. If this technology can be 6+ inches off, what are we doing here with 0.1 inch calls
020
Ian @pompsy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Nothing has made me doubt the Hawk Eye style technology than during Covid where a soccer ball went entirely into the goal in the Premier League and the team wasn't awarded a goal, with Hawk Eye just saying "oops we missed it"

Ian @pompsy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I am thoroughly unconvinced that those 0.1 inch calls are discernable and outside the margin of error on the ABS

When is the last time Yeli layed off a pitch at his ankles? 2023?

Feel like the sheer number of wild card spots kinda dilutes the impact of stats like this. How many would Gorman Thomas have had if six teams made the playoffs, and played twice as many games, in 78 and 79 instead of just two teams over two series?

I've been to Game 2 of the 2023 Wild Card, Games 2 and 3 of the 2024 Wild Card, Game 2 of the 2025 NLDS and Game 2 of the 2025 NLCS. Surprisingly, I was most upset in the stands for the 2023 Wild Card.

Oh it turns out reading is fundamental, Miz got an oversized. It'll look perfect with my Chourio on my tree this year

Ian @pompsy.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
I can't believe that Topps Holiday has ignored the Brewers and skipped giving a player a die cut ornament for the second year in a row. I really thought Miz would get one

I already had tickets for Saturday, cashed in a Kwik Trip ticket for Friday shortly before the program ended this year.

For totally selfish reasons, I hope the Brewers go 1-2 at Philly so I can be in the stands for win 100 on either Friday or Saturday

Birthday present came a little early, so I loaded a bunch of my non-Wall of Honor Brewers autographed cards into cases today.

Every off season I forget how many commercial breaks exist in every NFL game and how it drags on because of the number of ads. How do people find this more exciting on TV than baseball?

Today's mail brings Jack Voigt and Ramon Flores. Voigt was a utility player on the 97 Brewers. He played all outfield positions, 1B and 3B in his 72 games for the Crew. Flores was an outfielder on the 2016 Brewers. While this is a team card, it is the only card that depicts Flores as a Brewer.

Even in 2014 or 2018 I couldn't believe it. I bought a post season hat in 2018 explicitly because I had no idea the next time I'd be able to do that

As a provincial Brewers fan starting in the early 00s, I don't follow AL baseball, so I'm weak on the teams. Agreed that AL 4 is questionable but was unsure what to do with those four teams Travel doesn't matter nearly as much with the balanced schedule, but I like the idea of compact divisions
010
Ian @pompsy.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
My proposal. Tried to preserve existing (serious) rivalries and leagues, balanced divisions, and travel that makes sense. Teams in the same city should not be in the same league, and tried to avoid teams in the same state in the same league

Would have liked that Mitchell (and maybe Sanchez) swapped for someone like Zerpa or Woodford but that's fine by me. I assume we will get Senzatela and May in either Heritage High Number or Chrome Update

Update Checklist is out, we have Kuhnel, Hamilton, Sanchez, Lockridge, Black, Mitchell, Rengifo, Drohan, Crow, Fitzpatrick, Quero, Miz (Rookie Debut). Not a bad list in my view!
