PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yup. I’ve been tested for every known genetic syndrome that increases cancer risk - all negative. But I’m on my second flavor. My mother had two kinds, my father also. Cancer in my maternal aunt, grandfather, etc. I know there’s a genetic component it just hasn’t been identified yet. 110 0

PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 02/09/2026“Not Like 20 Years Ago” from my current exhibit in the Hoyt Gallery at The Keck School of Medicine of USC. You’ll have to watch my artist’s talk to get the back story on this one! #cansky #oncosky 131 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 29/08/2026This is spot-on. It’s not only difficult for patients, friend’s & family to deal with - physicians also have to adjust to having very long-term patients. It’s big shift in mind-set. 020 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Another piece from my current exhibit Advanced/Recurrent at the Keck School of Medicine. “Five-Year Survival” started off as depicting how cancer tears through one’s life. It ended up as a celebration of everything I’ve managed to do since my diagnosis. #cansky #oncosky #endometrialcancer 170 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Next up from my exhibit “Advanced/Recurrent” currently showing at the Keck School of Medicine. Scanxiety. For this crowd, I probably don’t need to explain… #cansky #oncosky #kecksom 051 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Another piece from my art exhibit “Advanced/Recurrent” showing at KSOM. “Out, Out Damned Spot” reflects advances in melanoma treatment. My initial medical oncologist specialized in melanoma, but also ran the infusion center where I was treated. #cansky #oncosky #endometrialcancer 030 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Next up from my exhibit Advanced/Recurrent currently on display in the Hoyt Gallery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC: Achy Brachy. Brachytherapy, in which needles are placed directly into a tumor, is both brilliant technology & utterly barbaric. #cansky #oncosky #advancedrecurrent 031 0

PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 22/08/2026“Before the Deluge” is another piece from my show “Advanced/Recurrent” at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Life is going along swimmingly and then suddenly the waves crash over you. #cansky #oncosky #cancerart 140 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I am more than my History of Present Illness. Cancer care can feel very impersonal and seem like you are on a conveyer belt of assessments and treatments that despite talking points, isn't very personalized at all. Underneath all the scan reports, treatment plans, drugs and bills, I'm a person. 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 22/08/2026My show “Advanced/Recurrent” opened on Wednesday at the Keck School of Medicine at USC with an artist’s talk for the students. Here’s the first piece in the exhibit: h.p.I. Pixelated photograph of the artist surrounded by medical ephemera. #cansky #oncosky #collagesky 120 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 03/08/2026So, this is going to happen. For those not on the L.A. area, you can register to attend the talk via live Zoom (it’s free). The talk will also be recorded and archived on the program website. Scan the QR code or go to: sites.usc.edu/heal/most-up... to register. #cansky #oncosky 031 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I’m unremarkable & boring, lol! As well as melting 🫠 in SoCal heat. Nothing to report as I’ve been transitioned to scans every 6 months instead of every 3. Next one at the end of August. Well, I do have a cancer-themed art show coming up. I’ll post about that tomorrow! 110 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 12/07/2026I do take a friend with me to my medical oncologist appointments. My MedOnc’s first language isn’t English, so having another person there to compare notes with after is helpful. I don’t take anyone to appointments with my radiation onc or gyn onc as these are shorter visits & intimate exams. 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Any artist making work about breast cancer out there? This Southern California gallery (yes, it’s legit) is looking for work from breast cancer patients, survivors & caregivers for an upcoming exhibit. Contact office@dnjgallery.net for more info. And please share!. #cansky #oncosky #breastcancer 022 0

PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 12/06/2026I’m here! Advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer. Currently NED after surgery, radiation, chemo, brachytherapy & immunotherapy. I don’t do Threads. 040 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 24/04/2026I had no problems with my port affecting the use of my right hand or arm (and I am extremely right-handed.) The only downside for me has been not being able to wear a shoulder bag on that side. But now my port is clogged & will be removed. I’m not looking forward to having my arms poked again. 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 26/03/2026This is the article I was looking for to share! Thanks for posting it. 020 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Whew! My latest PET scan shows no evidence of disease! My previous scans 3 months ago were inconclusive due to a lot of inflammation, But 3 months off the Keytruda/Lenvima combo, it’s resolved! I get 3 more months without tests, scans or visits! #cansky #oncosky #endometrialcancer 2100 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Just FYI, the cansky hashtag is used for cancer-related discussions. But we have a lot of Canadians here too! 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 03/02/2026No, you just look for another doctor & make an appointment for a consultation. Let that doctor know that you are seeing a second opinion. You may wish to check with your insurance provider to find out if/how your plan covers second opinion visits. 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 31/12/2025Endometrial cancer here. I was in active treatment almost all of 2025 (off Keytruda/Lenvima since September until my next scan in Feb). The amount of damage these life-saving meds inflicted on my body is staggering. Here’s to more recovery in 2026! 120 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 19/12/2025RadOnc techs are the absolute best! One of mine recognized me a year after he assisted with my brachytherapy treatments. They are adept at managing patients’ awkwardness while being superbly efficient. 110 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 01/12/2025I am so sorry-it is all too much. And I have no advice to give you, except to remind you that you will get through this. 020 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 25/11/2025I’ve told all my friends that if I ever hear them refer to my cancer as a “journey” or a “battle,” that I will haunt them after I’m gone. 181 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 15/11/2025I am so sorry. Fuck cancer! And I second getting a second opinion on the treatment options offered. It never hurts. 000 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 13/11/2025Hi Jodie - You might not reach your all of intended audience with the CanSky hashtag. It’s used on this platform for all things cancer-related. Maybe try CanadaSky? 120 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 11/11/2025Sometimes I go back to previous reports to compare them to the latest versions. I also go back and re-read physicians’ notes after a bit of time has passed to check for errors or to prepare for an upcoming visit. 010 0
PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 07/11/2025It never gets any easier no matter how many scans you have. Hang in there. 020 0

PomonaKa @pomonaka.bsky.social · 31/10/2025When people tell me “ You look so good!!!” due to my cancer medication-induced weight loss, my typical response is “You don’t want my diet plan.” If they push for my “secret” I give it to them with both barrels. “Ok, so you start with post-menopausal bleeding, then a biopsy…” 000 0
