iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

This is a draft for a wooden mosaic I’m intending to make. In my screenager head I thought I could lay the tiles one way and then simply flip the whole thing if I don’t like it, but duh! It’s not a digital image! 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I need to know before I start laying! Which way round, a or b? #mosaic #pixelart

A digital mosaic featuring stairs made of a yellow, orange and red colour gradient tapering towards the top. In this image the lowest step is at the bottom left and the highest step is at the top right.

Exciting new supplies! I’m bad at proper painting these days cause my hands are so shaky. But if all I need to do is cover little tiles with paint, I can enjoy messing with colours in the real world whilst holding on to my digitally inspired pattern obsession. Analog pixels! #MosaicMonday #pixelart

The litmus test for my surface pattern designs: Would I buy them for myself? Turns out in most cases I wouldn’t! 😳 Especially when it comes to wallpaper, ‘interesting’ doesn’t equal ‘bearable’! 🥴 #art #digitalart #digitalillustration #adobeillustrator #patterns #geometricart #designsky #homedecor

🦇🖤🦇 Some bat accessories I designed for spooky season and for all-year-round bat lovers! DM me if you’d like one – these aren’t available in an online store yet! More info in comments. Please repost is you have any bat-crazy friends! 😘 #bats #art #darkart #digitalart #geometricart #halloween

Pictures of placemats, a laptop sleeve and a tote bag arranged on an orange background. The three placemats, laptop sleeve and tote bag are printed with a design featuring bats in flight against a grey backdrop made up of tessellated bats. The bats look like more origami bats than real bats.

Here's how the puffin mosaic I posted recently came to be! I'm looking forward to doing more of these mosaic-style designs. Filling in the grid with Illustrator's Live Paint function is such fun! #art #digitalart #digitalillustration #adobeillustrator #patterns #geometricart #puffins #mosaicmonday

I made this design as a birthday present for my dad, who loves puffins. (I hope they’re recognisable as puffins! 😬) This is just a Freepik mock-up, I can’t find a decent hexagonal frame online! #art #digitalart #digitalillustration #adobeillustrator #patterns #geometricart #puffins #mosaicmonday

A hexagonal mosaic in a black hexagonal frame featuring nine puffins with spread wings in what looks like a skydiving formation on a patterned light blue background.

I've been helping select furniture and decor for our new community centre. Rather than trying to find cushions online that would match our colour scheme, I designed a pattern, using the hues of the colours that were already present in the building. 🤓 #designsky #adobeillustrator #geometricpattern

It looks fantastic! The only thing I would change is the shape of the tongue. It looks too straight to me, I would make it a little broader towards the bottom. But if you had a photograph as a template and the tongue looks like that in it, then ignore what I just said! 😸

The first pattern you’re seeing took me aaaages to figure out - and then I ended up strongly disliking it. 😫 So I tore it up and pieced it back together. I like it now, but maybe not enough to have it in my own house... What do you think? #designsky #adobeillustrator #geometricpattern #homedecor

Ah, and then of course the body paint adheres, cause it’s matte! Cool!

010

Polygon Poetry @polygonpoetry.bsky.social · 06/05/2025

Love this! Is the black on your hand all the same substance or is there matte nail polish on the nails? (Asking because I tried getting my hands all black once and the makeup left gaps/streaks on my nails.)

Yes! Glad that mirroring is still visible, even though the Ps are lying down. 🙂 (Couldn't get them to be upright, the writing wouldn't fit in that way.)

Polygon Poetry @polygonpoetry.bsky.social · 25/04/2025

Thanks! Yes, I'm also leaning toward that one, looks cleaner and more punchy. I only created the other one because my mom didn't like it. 😂

Sounds like a pretty fine-tuned process, wow!

000

Polygon Poetry @polygonpoetry.bsky.social · 24/04/2025

Thanks! I guess the video makes it look like it all happened within minutes, but in reality I was really frustrated for about a week that that bat just WOULD NOT look like a bat! 😂 (The problem being that the top wing contour had to match the bottom one, and on real bats that's just not the case.)

🦇🖤🦇 An example of a project that didn’t look promising for a very long time. The end result isn’t my best work ever, but I’m still pleased with it and happy that I gave that initial little bat monstrosity a chance to straighten itself out! #bats #art #darkart #digitalart #geometricart #tessellations

Ah, that sounds like a neat process! I can relate. I used to be quite good at drawing but due to an illness I have really shaky hands now, so I’ve opted for Illustrator. Being able to use a pen or paintbrush says nothing about one’s artistic capabilities, it’s all in the eye! 🙂

110

Polygon Poetry @polygonpoetry.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

These are amazing! Do you hand-draw the designs and then feed them into the machine? (I have no idea how laser cut works!)

110

Polygon Poetry @polygonpoetry.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

Oh, thank you so much, that would be very helpful! You’ve just encouraged me to keep posting to that account. I’m pretty depressed about the project because I can’t sing and play anymore due to my illness, which is also the reason I’ve shifted to visual art. But I’m still working on music videos!
