It was obvious to me, anyway. Not sure about the "racism is over" folks, though. They might be a little stupid. It's hard to see the country as collectively brilliant when so much of this ignorance is allowed to prevail and succeed in the marketplace of ideas.

Let's be honest about who is doing this, too. This isn't abstract conservatism, and it isn't "polarization." It's an alliance between oligarchic money and extremist movements, and it isn't particularly subtle. The oligarchs want a permanent ruling class. The extremists want a permanent underclass to grind a boot into. The deal between them is straightforward enough: the oligarch g et captures courts and permanent tax cuts, the extremists get their hierarchy of human worth written back into the law, and the county becomes a holding pen.

You say "men vs women" but white women weren't too far behind white men. So really, it is pretty close to being a racial issue. Age played a small part. I'm sure rural vs urban makes a huge difference (gerrymandering) but it mostly came down to race. White men AND white women let us down in 2024.

Exit polling data from 2024 which shows that, while white women might try to escape responsibility for Trump, they were firmly responsible for Trump, trailing behind by white men by a very small amount.
