In the end, recreating our code in GDScript from scratch rather than relying on pre-made nodes that I maybe didn't 100% understand under the hood was a positive learning experience and I came out a better dev for it.

Our prototype in UE was fully blueprints, so converting everything over to GDScript was sometimes a pain. Some of the BP nodes in UE can be a bit of a black box or go against GDScript fundamentals so recreating what those nodes were doing from scratch wasn't always straightforward.

Loving godot. I've used both unity and unreal professionally and how lightweight godot is in comparison is such a breath of fresh air. Took me about a 6 months to get really up to speed and comfortable with godot.
