James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I bought a discounted Christmas pudding a few days after Christmas. Very pleased with myself for planning ahead for this year, but ate it in June. 100
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 07/10/2026No doubt he has vile views about Galapogos tortoises 010
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 07/10/2026It blew my mind when I discovered that notaries in England and Wales are regulated by the Archbishop of Canterbury 100
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Gerald is wonderful. BL cars built by Roberts is also a cracker. 120
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Are commenters on FT articles all subscribers? A particularly grim set of comments. 120
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This is wonderful. From now on I will refer to the decalcomania lamps I inherited from my grandparents as cockamamie lamps. 080
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I want to be the archer for the St Sebastian photoshoot 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 19/09/2026That’s sad. I haven’t been for a few years. I used to think of it as good untrendy food in a useful location. Probably still ok for taking aging relatives for whom Soho is a bit too much? 010
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Fair. I listened to HHGG on the radio in about 1980 and that is its primary form for me. Adams writing himself out of airlock problems was part of the charm. Books 3&4 and Dirk read very differently, more digressions and less taut and I’ve never liked them as much. 010
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I’ve only read the first and didn’t love it, but I do always think of it when moving sofas up or down staircases. 120
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 15/09/20261&2 were derived from the radio scripts, and are much tighter with few wasted words. 010
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The Green Death haunted me as a seven year old. The special place it had in my imagination was kept alive by not being able to see it again for decades. 000

James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Yes, far too low. You even see them sometimes in the Barbican gardens - hardly suburban. 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 19/08/2026This reminds me if the time I had to try and find someone whose name I didn’t know, but who was a bearded gynaecologist in North Wales 001
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 19/08/2026The N/S Islington/Hackney border is a confused space. Stoke Newington Church St is more Whitstable, certainly. Stamford Hill not so much. All the people I know in Margate moved from Hackney. Many moved back after less than two years. 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 14/08/2026A few weeks ago, in a previous hideous heat spike, I summoned the imagination to think of winter and bought myself a waterproof down filled parka at 60% off. 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Grouse, being wild, are almost always in short supply. They are also delicious. I try to eat at least two a year. The obscenity of mass pheasant rearing and dumping etc. is very different. 110
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Tottenham Court Road existed for this before eBay or Amazon and was much more fun 130
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 05/08/2026It’s been around since at least the 80s. Political scientists may understand the parameters of your established technical terms, but I don’t think they are firmly established in general language. 020
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 03/08/2026What flavour is the dark one? I’m on a perpetual quest for blackcurrant ice cream or sorbet. 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 03/08/2026As a fan of another club, I agree with you. MU did really well in the Champion’s League, but it was too many competitions with shallow squad and the late season WSL fade can’t be blamed on Skinner or the players. Park was superb, Maya great but exhausted. Anna Sandberg was a standout until injured 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 03/08/2026I once climbed out of a third floor window of a large country house to avoid being forced to play charades. The risk of death was preferable to charades. 061
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Soccerdonna isn’t an English site. She’s a highly respected defender in the WSL, and highly regarded by Arsenal fans. I love watching her play: brilliant defender, tenacious, never gives up. Every time I go to the Emirates I pray she’ll score; I hope that part of her game clicks this season 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Absolutely. I had real problems when my father was in hospital getting the hospital to communicate openly to me, and had no LPA. I have both types of LPA for my mother, which sadly I am having to use, and myself, just in case. 220
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 23/07/2026I had this and hugely enjoyed it. Urban adventures are great fun. 000
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 16/07/2026I’m with you about the gravity of the offence, but that would make the platforms dangerously slippery. 110
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I found the same when I visited a couple of homes three years ago. Ridiculous! 070
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Yes, but you need specific permission for one on a Firearms certificate. I guess they are very rarely issued except on .22s for vermin control. 010
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Chaise Longue by Wet Leg always puts me in a good mood. California Dreaming by the Mamas and Papas induces wistful melancholy. 020
James Drummond @poltroon.bsky.social · 07/07/2026I put one in my first London flat 25 years ago, and each succeeding home. They aren’t expensive to buy, or to run, and they make a massive difference. They are better in high ceilinged rooms: I once stood up on my bed, stretched both arms upwards, forgetting the fan, and got horribly battered. 050
