Goffstown Pumpkin Regatta On this October16th in 2016 I sat on the shore of the Piscataquog river in Goffstown and watch costumed adults paddle hollowed out giant gourds to a finish line. It was ridiculous but a lot of fun.

2022 Autumn Festival The 2022 Autumn Festival was held on October 15th at Memorial Field in New Ipswich, NH. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed the warm sunshine. I sat with other members of the Historical Society with our display of old photos and artifacts.

The 2023 New Ipswich Autumn Festival was held on Saturday October 14th. One of the newer attractions was a tour of a traveling sauna. Something that can be transported to sauna deprived venues. It is a beautiful thing and completely self-contained. The stove is powered by propane. My Finnish buddy Carl Toko accompanied me on the tour. Traveling Sauna

On this day 22 years ago, same place, different decade

The Big Squeeze On this October 12th in 2019 I attended "The Big Squeeze" in Barre, MA. This was held on the Fenton Fairgrounds and can be described as sort of a bluegrass woodstock. I brought my guitar but was more interested in listening to the various jams held in tents and around a bonfire. They had set up a field kitchen and a large stew pot was simmering over an open fire.

Yankee Farmer On this October 11th in 2009 when my cousins were visiting, I took them to the Yankee Farmer farm stand in Greenfield, NH. They posted for a photo, and we looked at the display of pumpkins and fall flowers. Yankee Siege My cousins live in Stamford, Connecticut .There are plenty of farm stands and pumpkins in Connecticut but I doubt that any of them have a huge metal trebuchet named "Yankee Siege".

Hogback Trail Recently someone mentioned that these are the best two weeks of the year for weather. They may be correct. As I look back in the archives I see how photos I took of trails, leaves and landscapes. These were taken on this day in October along the Hogback trail at Greenfield State Park in New Hampshire. I had just started walking on the trail when I encountered a Garter Snake warming himself.
