It's another one of those things that gets overlooked when the university is blamed for this mistrust for not "speaking normal". Anti-intellectualism in our time is primarily a rhetorical effect of Fox, Heritage, PragerU etc, which need to hobble critical reflection in institutions.

My biggest Lingua Tertii Imperium reminder is seeing the continuity of Goebbels' 'Cultural Bolshevism' as 'Cultural Marxism' and then 'Wokeism' as fascists continue to demonize academics, medias, socialists and Trans folk. It's just so blatant.

It gives you a lil hermeneutic box to store traits in for people in your life but ime people let the box do the talking. Also the weekly/monthly predictions?? I have no hermeneutic of recovery to salvage that.

I think you would appreciate 1000x Resist as literature, too, but not always the maps. And Suzerain you would maybe like theoretically if it were shorter. Thematically you would probably enjoy Cosmic Wheel of Sisterhood but it would maybe heighten your evil power.

Games that I am confident would impress Edith Lunch: Scarlet Hollow, Undertale Games that I think Edith Lunch would appreciate: Life is Strange, Bloom and Rage Games I think Edith Lunch would like as short-form literature: Slay the Princess, This Game Will End in 206 Clicks

Is there a divide between theological and political postliberalism in the literature?

Free college would cost $80 billion/year. Or for $200 billion you can blow up Iranian kids, drive up gas prices, steer the empire into a ditch. Hard to say which is more “valuable” in the fucked up libidinal economies of desire

Not to be overly Gramscian, but if evangelical analysis translates across media formats, why shouldn't other analyses matter? What if the 'reality of fiction' extends the importance of analysis intermedially?

Every year on Easter I think about what it means for a group of organizers—after the execution of their comrade for sedition—to steal the body from Empire.

I know a lot of students are using LLMs (I won't say AI) not only to write for them, but even to read. I have a student acquaintance who—when I told him my upcoming paper dealt with Hegel and Lacan—suggested he would plug it into ChatGPT. It's hard to see any positives to this trend.

This shows up in the recent game, as well. The player becomes a landowner/rancher and gets an elf servant that manages their expansive estate for free. It's hard not to read Harry Potter as a Tory fantasy.

I was reading Lyotard's The Postmodern Condition and this book simply would not exist if the author read Hegel correctly.

I find it hard not to look at the data on gray matter loss in regular LLM users and think of the evolution of smaller teeth and jaws in modern hominids after the development of tools for food processing. We can't offload cognition onto cybernetics without it involving a real loss to the individual.

At a certain point Christians need to learn Revelation was written about a time that has long since past, that we know and do not suppose this, and that and that any attempt to bring it about again through bigoted violence places oneself among Christ's political adversaries.

It is good that you generally avoid talking about idiocracy, because it is a bad movie. I think the US government is stupid by design, as settler-colonial governments must be to accomplish the aims of evil men, and not because of some weird eugenic plotline and love of crocs.

My favorite annotated book is Talcott Parsons translation of the Protestant Ethic. He keeps some words in German that don't translate well. This frustrated the annotater more and more, escalating from exasperated punctuation marks to a middle finger and a "fuck you Talcott Parsons" in the margins.

Carl Schmitt is steeped in a surprisingly modern reading of Hegel, and anticipates modern ideological readings. Like Zizek with ideology, there isn't an outside to theology here. So we see nationalism as a 'secularized' theology as it is in Durkheim, but with that metaphysical connection.

Rubio: “That entire regime is led by radical clerics who don't make geopolitical decisions. They make decisions on the basis of theology, their view of theology which is an apocalyptic one.” Again, the lack of self awareness is astonishing. THEY TOO make political decisions based on their theology.

You'd think we could agree that cults for fantasy deities are religious but actually no. They gotta be transcendant/supernatural/superempirical/etc so most don't make the chopping block.

Nico Isaiah @poltergeists.bsky.social · 23/02/2026
I feel like religious studies folk would be less wrong if they reckoned with fantasy even remotely. Is a wizard's fireball not-magic because it is natural, explainable with arcane physics? Is a follower of Woedica not-religious if they understand the mechanics of her divinity?
