OCC report finds banks debanked conservatives
The OCC identified nine major US banks, including TD, BMO, Citigroup, and Capital One, for allegedly discriminating against customers based on political beliefs between 2020 and 2025. While banks revised policies, the OCC noted none fully acknowledged earlier debanking decisions or remediated affected customers. Comptroller Jonathan Gould stated the OCC found irrefutable evidence that institutions denied services to lawful businesses due to partisan affiliations or beliefs.
