Jared Kushner’s “peace” terms are a farce. Ukraine ceding land in the Donbas green lights Russia to take more in the future. This is what happens when you have unqualified nepo babies working on negotiations. Putin plays them like fiddles kyivindependent.com/ukraines-ref...

Today 87th and Harlem in Bridgeview, Illinois was officially designated as Little Palestine Way and Wadea Al-Fayoume Way. This honors the community’s contributions to the area and the 6-year old Muslim child murdered in a hate crime.

Saying people use AC only for comfort is as idiotic as saying we only use heat for comfort. A ton of studies show AC improving —Student learning —Sleep —Cognitive performance —Safety —Productivity “But AC contributes to climate change!” Heat is worse, but we still need it in winters #econsky

-Fully fund the IRS to go after offshore accounts -tax unrealized gains above a certain amount. I’m not a fan of this but it’s an option. People pay property taxes so it’s a similar concept -Break up big tech and mega corps. Bring competition back What else am I missing?

-Tax these loans progressively up to 99%, or ban them outright -Overturn Buckley v Valeo (precursor to Citizens United) so the rich can’t buy elections -Heavily increase luxury taxes on things like private jet miles

Taxing “every dollar above $1 billion” wouldn’t work for people like Elon Musk, bc he doesn’t have cash to tax This is bc the wealthy use their stocks as collateral to get loans and pay no tax. They borrow against themselves Here’s what you do instead so people can’t hoard $1 trillion: #econsky

The producer price index (PPI) increased 4.0% year to year, largely bc of higher energy costs. Energy rose 8.5% in the last month alone PPI (mostly) measures business to business inflation. If these costs rise, you can expect CPI (consumer prices) to rise soon, unless businesses eat costs #econsky

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims. We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear. Never again means never again for anyone.

Consumers “being dumb” is basically how marketing works. That’s why the econ 101 models often fall apart, because in graduate courses you learn about behavioral economics and how people make irrational decisions. Example: more candy sales bc they’re near the register

The real kicker is that this might cause mortgage rates to rise. The 10-year yields are directly correlated with mortgage rates. As they go up, investors would rather invest in those than mortgage backed securities. That means mortgage rates need to rise to compete. #econsky

4.6 is high for sure. That’s why I was saying the numbers aren’t good. But 4.6 isn’t much different than 4.4, which is also not good. It’s been bad for a while. I said it’s steady, but steady doesn’t mean good.

That’s a small change and revisions can still happen too as lagging survey data comes in. It’s not insignificant but id say that’s a “steady” range esp for preliminary data. The underlying info is more interesting. Huge drop in fed workers. That was done intentionally. Meaning UR should be lower

UR steady at 4.6%. Job gains in construction and healthcare, losses in fed gov Last month everyone said they hid bad numbers by not publishing data. Reality: shutdown means no survey collection If they were hiding bad numbers, why publish this month? These numbers aren’t good #econsky
