I decided to explore the apps I have on my phone (none of them intended for drawing) and draw things using them, to share on my social media. Is the way I found to slow down on sharing bad news (even when lately there are a lot) and try to bring some joy instead 😌🙌🌿✨

Long time ago when I was in high school and college I wanted to learn to draw using a computer and I only had access to Microsoft Paint, so I’d spend hours making graphics using my mouse & the keyboard. Some people told me there were better tools to create that kind of images but I was ok with Paint

Ayelet Shachar, describes citizenship in a wealthy country as a form of inherited property “To those granted better opportunities and stronger economies, to not utilise your potential to your fullest would be a disservice to those that are simply seeking a chance.” 🌎💚🌱
Don't take your Geographic Luck for Granted.

To those born in countries viewed unfavorably due to politics, circumstance, or war, there exist real obstacles - visa denials, excessive scrutiny & endless red tape. At times, it feels as though citizens are reduced even by human standards.
Citizenship in a wealthy country is not something earned, but merely a stroke of luck.

To those granted better opportunities and stronger economies, to not utilise your potential to your fullest would be a disservice to those that are simply seeking a chance.

In Defense of the Word by Eduardo Galeano “One writes, in reality, for the people whose luck or misfortune one identifies with — the hungry, the sleepless, the rebels, and the wretched of this earth — and the majority of them are illiterate.” 🧵
In Defense of the Word by Eduardo Galeano
One writes out of a need to communicate and to commune with others, to denounce that which gives pain and to share that which gives happiness. One writes against one's solitude and against the solitude of others. One assumes that literature transmits knowledge and affects the behavior and language of those who read... One writes, in reality, for the people whose luck or misfortune one identifies with the hungry, the sleepless, the rebels, and the wretched of this earth and the majority of them are illiterate.
How can those of us who want to work for a literature that helps to make audible the voice of the voiceless function in the context of this reality? Can we make ourselves heard in the midst of a deaf-mute culture? The small freedom conceded to writers, is it not at times a proof of our failure? How far can we go? Whom can we reach?
... To awaken consciousness, to reveal identity can literature claim a better function in these times?... in these lands?
. Our own fate as Latin American writers is linked to the need for profound social transformations. To narrate is to give oneself: it seems obvious that literature, as an effort to communicate fully, will continue to be blocked ... so long as misery and illiteracy exist, and so long as the possessors of power continue to carry on with impunity their policy of collective imbecilization through ... the mass media.

Found this comment in a post about Bezos wedding. I agree! 100% I think anyone who flaunts wealth and extravagance right now, with all the crises happening around the world, is a horrible person. I guess that's why I especially dislike all those fashion, beauty, luxury lifestyle… influencers 🤢💩

Image with extract from the article shared above

“Musk is deeply fascist, transphobic, racist, you name it, but even more than that he's a greedy selfish blackhole who hoards money and power and is willing to do anything to grow his fortune, his reach, and his influence. He's an egomaniac who has been enabled by the fundamentally flawed capitalist system we all should be working against, not upholding. This is the core underlying problem in our society that must be dealt with…”

"The object of immune rejection isn't foreignness or otherness as such. The external intruder is only rejected when it acts destructively within one's own being The biological immune system is more hospitable than previously thought, therefore, it's more intelligent than a xenophobic human society"🧵
Image with text in Spanish from the book The Burnout Society by Byung-Chul Han

Quote from the former President of Uruguay José Mujica from the film, "Fragile Balance, people in a globalized world." 🤍🌎🌱 For me, the difference lies in the fact that you see others as equals, you recognize yourself in others, and so you choose solidarity over altruism... ❤️🌼
Quote from José (Pepe) Mujica in an interview for the film "Fragile Balance, people in a globalized world."

"Love relates to solidarity, which is not the same as altruism, altruism is, I give because I give, solidarity means, today for you, tomorrow for me, it implies some sort of interest but doesn’t require direct or immediate repayment. It represents an attitude. If I show solidarity, then perhaps others will in other situations with me."

My Symphony by William Ellery Channing To live content with small means... ...In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.
An image with a poem by William Ellery Channin

"My Symphony"

To live content with small means.
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
    and refinement rather than fashion.
To be worthy not respectable,
    and wealthy not rich.
To study hard, think quietly, talk gently,
act frankly, to listen to stars, birds, babes,
and sages with open heart, to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual,
    unbidden and unconscious,
    grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

He intentado desconectarme de las redes sociales, me gusta escribir cosas... Lately I've been trying to stay away from social media. I enjoy different activities, including writing.
Image with a poem that I wrote, the poem is in spanish:
(Translation to english)
The death confused, wandering the streets, people inert... passive, yet still breathing.
Thumbs on a device, scrolling and scrolling.
Dull technology, thirsty circuits, algorithms working.
It's a hot, dry day, the city is burning. Finally, they look up, the event is going viral.
