Most organisations today could extract more business value from their GIS by moving the entire stack to a single S3 bucket of raw files, a text file describing the contents, and their favourite AI coding agent. Come at me.

Coutts minimizing double compound leg fractures with "nobody was really seriously injured" and they should "perhaps respond in a better way in future" but "there is an element of danger and the athletes know it" is just.. red flags all over the place.

Well F1 got safe by getting incredibly serious about building survival cells, along with a range of other devices. If you want to be like F1, figure how to make crashes survivable! </rant>

Wild watching the SailGP crash between NZ and France, and the follow-up that is focused on the number of boats & racing format rather than the physical safety of the machines. Coutts suggesting that sailors "know the risk" and it's like F1.

So we're saying a Labour/Green coalition elected by townies will have absolute control over water and transport assets of farming communities? Interesting interesting.

Oddly enough NZ has a thriving medical tech industry. but no one is an MP long enough to get fired for a multi-decade long Salesforce/IBM/whatever debacle.

> ..roll out in three phases: stabilising critical systems, modernising platforms, and enabling innovative healthcare models.. seems reasonable > ..a collaboration between Health New Zealand and global experts in AI and process engineering.. Ah ok expensive disaster.

Ok #gischat less than a week until @foss4g.org - the open, inclusive, educational and fun geospatial conference happening in Auckland from 17th-23rd November. 2025.foss4g.org - can I fit everything we're doing into one skeet (takes a breath)...

New Zealand used to have a spine on international issues. This is very disappointing, and the weeks of "wait and see" coyness from the PM is a bonus insult. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

The government has decided against recognising Palestinian statehood, retaining its "when, not if" position.

This is... massive. I thought it would be big but this is off the chart. RNZs "10,000" and highlighting the literal handful of counterprotests is very silly.

Of course not. Auckland Council as a whole is actually well run. Something that seems to annoy the snot out of central govt.

Well, if you read the article, the point is that Auckland is not like other local authorities, so that would be the wrong message to take eh.

It's not just the scale. The geography is all wrong in a way that would be hard for a human to actually generate 😱.
