spooky season (6) - Jaws (1975) - people may say this is lame, but a lot of people have only seen this movie edited for cable tv, it deserves an unedited viewing, it is perfection and shows the raw brilliance of Spielberg, who vastly overbudget and behind schedule delivers the first blockbuster

spooky season (5) They Will Kill You (2026) - this movie blindsided me with how creative and well-crafted it was, like if John Carpenter, Tarantino, and Sam Raimi had a baby gimbal camera - it's my favorite movie of 2026 (the trailer is trash, don't trust it)

The incredible Special Effects of KAREL ZEMAN — without whom there’d be no Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton or Wes Anderson to name but three.

spooky season (4) - They Live (1988) - the most anti-consumerist movie ever released, featuring the most ridiculously long main character fight ever, which ITSELF is an allegory of class infighting - they live, we sleep

spooky season (3) - "The Cabin the the Woods" (2011) - the horror lover's movie, a hyper-meta dissection of the entire horror genre, almost too mechanical in its desire to touch every element in one film, which is why a lot of fans hate it - but for the sheer attention to detail and humor it's a go

spooky season (2) - The Thing (1982) - arguably the best horror movie ever - it asks the viewer who in your life can you trust - John Carpenter's best, spectacular practical effects, great performances, and an ending that leaves you guessing

spooky season (1) - Obsession (2026) - thousands of pages have been written about this film so I'll keep it simple: it kept me guessing until the final second, which is RARE - I avoided it for being "too popular" and that was a mistake

bsky.app/profile/kenw... Popehat may no longer be posting on here but his words are still very important to those who know someone, or who struggle themselves, with anxiety, depression, or the myriad of other things that may plague mental health. So just reupping this thread

This movie came out of nowhere - how does a Brad Pitt movie sneak into theaters - runs a little slow, but really impressed by it if you're prone to crying, expect to "Heart of the Beast" (2026)

I used to live on the one lane road that shares this intersection, which is transformed every year for Halloween. 🎃🪱

An elaborate 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑠 themed Halloween decoration with a straw-stuffed man in blue jeans, a flannel shirt and a straw cowboy hat has his arms and legs wrapped around a telephone pole he looks to have shinnied up about 10 feet to avoid two long skinny worms that have erupted out of the mouth of the giant sand worm that has in turn erupted out of the ground nearby.
