I wonder how those thick, bigoted knuckledraggers cope with the royal family's lineage. According to Rupert Lowe, King Charles wouldn't be considered British because his father wasn't born in the UK. And the royals are German/Danish/Greek/Russian/etc., anyway.

Weird coincidence! I saw the Prague-Copenhagen train whizzing through my local station this morning, and it got me thinking about all the international train services that run via Roztoky - but unfortunately don't stop here. They included Minsk, Moscow...and Malmö. Then I read your post.:-)

I've never understood why, in this era of tolerance, so many have such an issue with those who don't want children. Nobody should have to justify that choice; having kids isn't an obligation, and it's nobody else's business. Why is that so hard for some people to grasp?

Happy to help. :-) I also follow the Cactus The Rescue channel on YouTube. He's rescue dog, who has now been joined by a rescue puppy. The owner also has a cat, Miso, who always looks perpetually perplexed. I'd like to see more of Miso in the vids.

That's a great idea. I'm sure it did help. The MB vids channel is all about the owner's cats; lots of the clips feature the moggies relaxing or snoozing in his/her big sunny garden somewhere in Serbia, with collared doves constantly cooing in the background. The perfect antidote to stress.

There's something very restful about the cooing of collared doves (have you seen the MB vids YouTube channel?). Although less so when it starts at 5am on summer mornings and they're sitting on my apartment block roof. Cardinals look amazing. Really striking birds.

Yes, a lot of people have remarked on their size. I suppose that adds to their appeal. Quite a few jays here in Central Bohemia, although one hears them rather than sees them. Same goes for green woodpeckers. And the town where I live, just north of Prague, is hoaching with collared doves.

Unfortunately, there aren't many geese where I live. And I only occasionally see jackdaws and rooks, whose antics I find endlessly entertaining. But they've turned my parents' hood into corvid central and are fun to watch when I visit. Thankfully, there are loads of puffin vids on YT to enjoy. :-)

At first I thought you'd omitted the Cocteaus and was momentarily shocked! But I see you've included Victorialand. Phew!

Always sad to summer visitors go. Especially the swifts. It always feels like the end of summer when they depart in late July/early August. Still, less than a year to go before they'll be back!

Have you done the "Skåne-Sjælland circuit"? Take the train from Copenhagen to Helsingør and see "Hamlet's" Castle and the town, then get the ferry to Helsingborg and from there take the train to Lund, where you can enjoy a scone (geddit?). Pop over to Malmö, and then get the train back to

As an EU citizen living in the Czech Republic, I'm entitled to vote in the local council elections here, held on 9 and 10 October. They're very civil and sedate affairs, and everyone seems quite reasonable, which is very refreshing, given the depressing state of politics nationally and globally.
