Suzanne Jordan on Exposing 3HO, Kundalini, and Yogi Bhajan (Part 1)

Suzanne Jordan on Exposing 3HO, Kundalini, and Yogi Bhajan (Part 1)
Suzanne Jordan joins us for a deep dive into her time in the early days of 3HO, Kundalini, and the world built around Yogi Bhajan. She shares how childhood trauma, family rupture, Omega House, and a desperate search for safety and belonging created the perfect runway into an ashram that initially looked like a wholesome new family, with yoga, vegetarian food, chanting, and a suspiciously effective café. Suzanne takes us from her first exposure to 3HO through marriage, spiritual bypassing, tough love, and the increasingly impossible gymnastics required to reconcile Yogi Bhajan’s public teachings with his abuse of power. We also discuss Omega House, Yogi Bhajan, 3HO, Kundalini, Pamela Dyson and her book Premka , which helped crack open the truth for longtime devotees, along with Suzanne’s own memoir, The Deviant Daughter . Stay tuned for Part 2 on Thursday. Follow Suzanne at SuzanneJordan.com and check out the Yogi Bhajan Kundalini abuse Facebook page and Beyond the Cage , a private Facebook group. David George & Jack Altman on AI, Autonomy, and the Next $25 Trillion
a16z General Partner David George joins Jack Altman on Uncapped to make the case that many of the biggest debates in AI are framed the wrong way. Frontier models or open source? Labs or applications? David’s answer is often “and.” With AI adoption still concentrated among a relatively small group of heavy users, he argues there could be room for multiple layers of the stack to grow at once.  David and Jack discuss why demand for compute continues to outstrip supply, why applications can thrive even as frontier labs expand into new products, and why consumer AI may still be at the beginning of its biggest shift, from reactive chatbots to proactive assistants that can act on our behalf.  They also zoom out to autonomy, robotics, healthcare, and the next generation of technology companies, before turning to venture itself: why David believes today’s product cycle is unusually strong, how capital can accelerate AI companies in ways it couldn’t during the SaaS era, and why founders and narrative become increasingly important as companies scale.  This conversation originally appeared on Jack Altman’s Uncapped. Lawfare Archive: Nayib Bukele's Crackdown on Dissent in El Salvador

Lawfare Archive: Nayib Bukele's Crackdown on Dissent in El Salvador | The Lawfare Podcast
Listen to Lawfare Archive: Nayib Bukele's Crackdown on Dissent in El Salvador from The Lawfare Podcast. From May 20, 2025: El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has made a lot of headlines recently in the United States for his partnership with the Trump administration. Bukele has helped enable President Trump’s scheme to remove supposed Venezuelan gang members from the U.S. under the Alien Enemies Act, housing these detainees in the notorious CECOT prison. In court, the Justice Department has claimed it has no ability to request that Bukele return these detainees to the United States, even after Bukele posed for photos next to Trump in the Oval Office. The use of CECOT is key to the Trump administration’s effort to paint migrants as dangerous criminals. But what is Bukele getting out of the scheme, and what do things look like from within El Salvador? To understand this, Lawfare Senior Editor Quinta Jurecic spoke with Noah Bullock, Executive Director of the Central American human rights organization Cristosal. Their conversation places CECOT in context of broader efforts by Bukele to consolidate his power and erode Salvadoran democracy. It also addresses Bukele’s ongoing crackdown on dissent in El Salvador over the last week—a crackdown that most recently included the sudden arrest on May 18 of Noah’s colleague Ruth López, who heads Cristosal’s anti-corruption work. Beyond the God Model | Alex Atallah & Amjad Masad
A16z’s Erik Torenberg sits down with OpenRouter’s Alex Atallah and Replit founder and CEO Amjad Masad to discuss why the future of AI may look less like one all-purpose model and more like an ecosystem of specialized models working together. Alex explains why OpenRouter is betting on “neurodiversity”: different models trained in different ways, routed and combined based on the job at hand. Amjad makes a similar case from inside the enterprise, where companies increasingly need to own their AI capabilities rather than depend entirely on a single model provider.  They explore what happens when general-purpose agents give way to teams of specialized agents, why smaller models can sometimes be cheaper, safer, and easier to control, and how routing and model fusion could deliver frontier-level performance at lower cost. They also get into agent-to-agent communication, AI security, and why the next generation of companies may need an independence layer across models, clouds, and data. America’s New Relationship With Israel…It’s Complicated

America’s New Relationship With Israel…It’s Complicated
When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the stage at the United Nations last month, diplomats streamed for the exits. Three years after October 7, when much of the Western world rallied behind Israel in the wake of Hamas’ attack, the political ground has shifted. Some of the biggest changes are happening here in the US. Two years ago, Abbas Alawieh helped lead the Uncommitted movement, pressuring Democrats over Gaza. Now he’s running for Michigan state Senate, and Kamala Harris is calling him. Elsewhere in Michigan, AIPAC and its allies spent close to $30 million backing Abdul El-Sayed’s opponent in the Democratic Senate primary. El-Sayed won anyway. For some voters, the prominence of Israel itself is striking. “I don’t know why Israel has become the pivotal point,” said Mimi Price-Miletic, a  Democratic voter in Michigan. “There are so many issues in this country that we should be dealing with, and you’re worried about what’s happening, like, millions of miles away?” And the divide crosses party lines. Younger Republicans are questioning US support for Israel, even as party leaders advance deeper defense cooperation. Meanwhile, AIPAC faces new challenges to its influence, as younger Jewish political groups, like J Street and Jewish Voice for Peace, offer sharply different visions for what should come next. This week on Reveal , reporter Najib Aminy follows the new fault lines forming around the US–Israel relationship and asks: As the old political consensus is tested, who gets to shape what replaces it?
Why AI Agents Can Beat the Incumbents
a16z’s Seema Amble and Elena Burger sit down with Lio co-founder and CEO Vladimir Keil to ask where AI-native startups have an advantage when incumbent software companies already own the customer, the data, and the system of record. Their answer comes down to the work that happens outside those systems. In procurement, a final price in an ERP can hide hundreds of emails, spreadsheets, supplier conversations, engineering analyses, and decisions across legal, finance, and operations. Vlad explains how Lio uses multi-agent systems to take on more of that end-to-end work, from sourcing and RFQs to negotiation, shipment tracking, and invoices. They also discuss how enterprises learn to trust agents with increasingly consequential decisions, why the last 20% of an internal AI build can require most of the effort, and what happens when both buyers and suppliers have agents working on their behalf. Lawfare Daily: The Trump-Xi Summit and U.S.-China AI Competition | The Lawfare Podcast
Listen to Lawfare Daily: The Trump-Xi Summit and U.S.-China AI Competition from The Lawfare Podcast. Martin Chorzempa is the Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a leading U.S. expert on China's economy and tech sector. In this week's episode, Peter and Martin unpack President Trump's September 24 summit with Chinese Leader Xi Jinping, talk about the balance of leverage in the geopolitical and economic relationship, and unpack the countries' differing perspectives on—and approaches to—artificial intelligence. Martin also discusses some of his current research into Chinese open weight AI models, which American companies are using with increasing frequency across a range of business applications. Peter and Martin also discuss Martin's recent paper arguing that China's efforts to internationalize the RMB are stalling out. This episode is part of the Security Economics podcast series, in which Peter Harrell and guests explore the intersection of economics and national security, how countries manage their economies to support national security, and how they deploy economic tools in support of geopolitical objectives. #565: Tachyon, Python 3.15's Built-in Sampling Profiler

Tachyon, Python 3.15's Built-in Sampling Profiler
Do you know what's actually slow in your Python app? Or are you guessing? Until now, profiling Python meant a tracing profiler that made your code 2 to 3 times slower. Or a third-party tool that broke with every new release. Python 3.15 fixes that. It ships Tachyon, a sampling profiler built into the standard library. It attaches to live production apps with almost zero overhead. My guests are Pablo Galindo Salgado, CPython core developer and Steering Council member, and László Kiss Kollár from Bloomberg's Python infrastructure team. Their first prototype ran at two samples a second. Now it does over a million hz. And it lands in Python 3.15 this October.

Rational Security: The “Techs Appeal” Edition

Rational Security: The “Techs Appeal” Edition | The Lawfare Podcast
Listen to Rational Security: The “Techs Appeal” Edition from The Lawfare Podcast. This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Managing Editor Tyler McBrien and Senior Editors Anna Bower and Michael Feinberg to talk through the week’s big news in national security, including:“Third Country’s the Charm.” On Tuesday, the Supreme Court cleared the way—for the third time—for the Trump administration to resume deporting migrants to “third countries” with which they have no connection, staying a lower court ruling that found the policy unlawful and agreeing to hear the case on the merits in December. The decision comes days after the administration quietly flew a group of Somali men—some with no criminal records, who had been held at Guantánamo Bay for a month after being told their plane was only stopping in Cuba to refuel—to Mogadishu, on a flight that departed hours after an appeals court made clear the third-country removal policy was blocked. It also comes as lower courts are increasingly finding the administration in contempt for violating their orders in deportation cases, and as the full D.C. Circuit weighs whether Judge James Boasberg can continue his contempt inquiry into last year’s Alien Enemies Act flights. What does this pattern tell us about the administration’s relationship with the courts? And how far it is willing to push its immigration agenda?“Here Comes the Bribe.” Last week, ProPublica revealed that, by late 2024, FBI anti-corruption agents believed they had enough evidence to seek a sweeping bribery investigation stemming from a defense contractor’s illegal donations to Maine Senator Susan Collins and other members of Congress—only for the probe to die when the Trump administration gutted the FBI and Justice Department units that handle public corruption cases. Collins denies any wrongdoing and has called the contractor a liar, but the story has become a central issue in her tight reelection race. It’s also just the latest in a string of stories raising questions about public integrity in and around the Trump administration, from the Putin-linked Russian oligarch that secretly bankrolled Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding, to the Kash Patel- and Todd Blanche-studded wedding of former U.S. Attorney Alina Habba to a Turkish businessman with close ties to the Erdoğan government—with mixed martial arts manager Abdelaziz Ali, a former FBI source and suspected double agent, in attendance. What does the Collins story tell us about what happens when no one is minding the store on public corruption? And how worried should we be about who is buying access to the president’s inner circle?“Manufactured Content.” President Trump escalated his war on the press this month, banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House and having the Secret Service seize their reporters’ press passes over what he described as years of unfair coverage. A federal judge has since temporarily ordered their access restored, finding the ban likely violated their due process rights. But the White House isn’t just restricting who gets to tell its story—it’s also paying to tell its own, launching a series of taxpayer-funded TV ads that feature President Trump and closely track his campaign messaging, including one nearly identical to a 2024 campaign spot, just weeks before the midterms. The White House insists these are merely public service announcements. Is the administration breaking longstanding norms in an effort to take control of the narrative? And are there any legal limits that might stop it?In object lessons, Mike has two cautionary tales about tech appeal: “When We Cease to Understand the World” and “The Maniac.” Tyler is embracing sexy technical gear with a recommendation of Field Mag. Scott is returning to an old favorite that just understands him: “Fantasy Football Punishments for Your Work League that Violate the Geneva Convention.” And Anna is delighted by a more cutthroat side of cutting-edge: the National Havoc Robot League.

Rachida Dati jugée pour « corruption » : pourquoi Renault lui a versé 900 000 euros ? | Code source
Sean Miller: From Jehovah’s Witness to Apostate Artist (Part 2)
In Part 2 of our conversation with Sean Miller, we get into the messy business of figuring out what to keep—and what to leave behind—after spending 36 years as a Jehovah’s Witness. Sean talks about the anger, grief, and identity crisis that came with leaving, and how learning to incorporate the good parts of his past without excusing the harmful ones helped him move forward. We dig into the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ handling of sexual abuse allegations, shifting positions on medical care and mental health, and the mindfuck of discovering that the people and institution demanding impossible standards from you don’t always hold themselves to those same standards. We also talk about how Sean found a way to rebuild through art. He shares the inspiration behind his book Novice Enthusiasm , his comic project Kinsugi, and his goal of creating a roadmap for anyone trying to reconnect with their creativity after religious trauma. Plus, we get into the surprisingly culty potential of AI and one very committed—and ridiculous—Jehovah’s Witness parking-lot grift involving the magic number 1914. Because apparently deconstruction can be healing and useful at the beach. Be sure to pick up Sean’s book, Novice Enthusiasm: Belief, Rebuilt. Built One Line at a Time , visit his website, SeanGregoryMiller.com , and follow him on Instagram @seangregorymiller . Trigger warning: This episode contains frank discussion of religious trauma, domestic and sexual abuse and institutional cover-ups, mental health, coercive control, grief, and estrangement from family. Lawfare Daily: The Remaking of the Department of Defense | The Lawfare Podcast
Listen to Lawfare Daily: The Remaking of the Department of Defense from The Lawfare Podcast. On today's podcast, Executive Editor Natalie Orpett sits down with Rachel VanLandingham, a professor at Southwestern Law School and a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, to talk about the many ways in which the Trump administration has been remaking DoD. Some changes are announced loudly—the ban on transgender service members and the so-called “High-T” initiative—while others are taking place through quiet bureaucratic moves, like changes to personnel management. But all are combining to reshape the U.S. armed forces according to a new vision. They talk about how these changes are being implemented, what’s rhetoric and what’s reality, and what impact it’s all having on the Department and the troops themselves. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare. How One “Golden Moment” Can Transform Your Entire Life
What if the life you’re living in now isn't the life you’re meant to stay in? What if you could start writing a new chapter today? In this unforgettable conversation, Mel sits down with one of her favorite authors, John Grisham, whose books have sold nearly half a billion copies worldwide. But this isn't a typical interview about having a legendary career. This is a deeply personal conversation about reinvention, rejection, purpose, and the “golden moments” that change the entire direction of your life. 35 years ago, Mel was starting her first year of law school when she picked up John Grisham’s The Firm, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities for her life. John would call that a “golden moment”. A moment that becomes the catalyst for a whole new chapter of your life.  You are going to hear why that moment was so special for Mel as well as John sharing his own “golden moments.”  He tells the story behind his own unexpected path: failing English, drifting through college, practicing law, and being rejected as a writer over and over again before writing the book that changed his life forever. You’ll learn: -How to stop treating rejection as proof that you should quit -Why your current path is not your final path -What to do when you feel trapped in a job, career, or identity that no longer fits -Why “one page a day” is a powerful strategy for changing your life -How to create space for a dream, even when your life is busy -What to do when you feel like you’re drifting and don’t know your next move -How to recognize the “golden moments” that can change the direction of your life -Why discipline and consistency matter more than waiting to feel inspired -How to use the stories, setbacks, and detours in your life as material for reinvention -Why it’s never too late to start writing your next chapter This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, discouraged, or unsure what comes next. Because your current path is not your final path, and as John Grisham proves, there is always more of your story left to write.  For more resources related to today’s episode, click here for the podcast episode page.  If you liked the episode, check out this one next: This Conversation Will Change How You Think About Your Entire Life Connect with Mel:   Order Mel’s product, Pure Genius Protein Get Mel’s newsletter, packed with tools, coaching, and inspiration.
The $1 Trillion AI Buildout | State of Markets
a16z’s David George, Sarah Wang, Alex Immerman, and Santiago Rodriguez unpack 25 key charts from the latest State of Markets presentation, from the scale of the AI infrastructure buildout to what adoption looks like inside companies today. They examine why rising markets have so far been supported by earnings rather than multiple expansion, why hyperscaler CapEx is approaching $1 trillion annually, and why demand for compute continues to outrun supply. They also look at the downstream effects of that spending across chips, power, construction, and physical infrastructure. State of Markets Then they move up the stack: OpenAI and Anthropic’s revenue growth, the gap between AI deployment and measurable enterprise impact, the rise of agents, falling inference costs, and what all of this means for SaaS. They close with where the team is spending time next, including consumer agents, robotics, autonomy, AI and biology, personal health, defense, and the continued diffusion of AI across the enterprise. Renee Spencer, Part 2 - The Jesus Christians, the “Kidney Cult,” and Suing Your Daughter’s Religious Group - Trust Me: Cults, Extreme Belief, and Manipulation
This week is part two with advocate and therapist Renee Spencer, who sued the Jesus Christians, aka the “kidney cult,” after they recruited her daughter. Last week, Renee explained how she realized her daughter Ellicia’s communication was being controlled, and this week she picks back up on Ellicia’s mysterious whereabouts around the world--going wherever the group sent her, cutting off emotional contact, and virtually disappearing from Renee's life. Renee shares how the group’s leader, Dave McKay, began accusing her of being a Satan worshipper, which was used to demonize her and keep Ellicia away. Renee shares how she’s connected with other parents, what she learned about some of the things her daughter has been through (including their highly punitive “grievance” system), and how Renee finally took Dave McKay to court. Can a Democratic Socialist Win in Deep-Red Florida?

More To The Story: Back in August, Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon did something few outside the state saw coming: She won Florida's Democratic US Senate primary. Her victory sent shock waves through the political world not only because her opponent Alex Vindman’s war chest dwarfed hers 19 to 1, but also because Nixon ran as a Democratic Socialist. Today, she’s one of a number of candidates around the country affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America who could be elected to Congress this November. The sudden rise in the DSA’s popularity is reshaping the Democratic Party and America’s political landscape. On this week’s More To The Story, Nixon talks to host Al Letson about going from community activist and comic book co-author to upstart US Senate candidate, being “the biggest thorn” in Republican Gov.
