Brock is cuddling Leland in bed, leaving half the bed unused. A teddy bear in business attire sits on Leland's side of the bed. On Brock's nightstand is a book. On Leland's is a smart phone. Hank is spread out in his bed, with Griff pused all the ay to the edge. Beowoof lies on his back between them.

All these scenes float in the darkness above Bear Corner, which is deep in shadows. A single truck drives down the empty, nighttime street. A disembodied voice in spooky text and shaky black captions speaks.

"Soon"

The voice is interrupted by a normal caption box, presumably from Abigail, which says, "Oh my god, Nightmare, go bother my aunt!"

Nightmare replies, "Please don't yell at me..."

"There we go. Your first gem talisman. A hearthstone", Gloriana says.

"Wow, thanks", Sasha replies.

Gloriana adds, "There's nowhere to set it in this world, though".

Lafcadio and Gloriana wave as she stands by the portal door. Sasha is kneeling on the couch.

"Goodnight, Gloriana", Lafcadio says.

"Farewell, my dears", Gloriana replies.

Sasha adds a "bye!".

Later, Lafcadio heads for his bedroom door by the couch while Sasha enters the study next to the kitchen.

"You get to sleep. If you need anything, I'll be in my room", Lafcadio says.

"'night", Sasha says.

The panel ends with about one third of the row left, leaving a big white space.

From inside the study, we hear Gloriana in the kitchen saying, "I had a lovely time, dear Lafcadio."

In the kitchen, Lafcadio and Gloriana are standing by the table. Lafcadio says, "I love seeing you, Gloriana. And I'm sure Sasha loeved meeting a gemaster."

"Oh, about dear Sasha...", Gloriana replies.

Gloriana walks over to Sasha on the other side of the kitchen/living room, summoning something into her hand.
"Sweet den, may I have your collar for a moment?" she asks.

"Ok", Sasha replies, while removing their collar.

Sasha hands the collar to Gloriana, who is now holding a gem-shaped jewelry box, a gem cache, in one hand.

"It would be rude of me to leave without giving you a gift", she says.

She daintily lowers the collar into the top of the gem cache. It passes through with a maic sparkle.
She then waves her hand over the gem cache as it gives off more sparkles.

Sasha, now seated on the cushion, asks, "Um, Lafcadio? Is that why you don't eat a lot of food? Is it all gems?"

Lafcadio picks up another gem and says, "Oh ho! Yes my den, most of an ogre faerie's bulk comes from stored magic. The fatter our bellies, the more powerful we are!"

Gloriana adds, "We only need about twice as much food as an ori, that is, tiny, faeries," as Sasha looks between Gloriana and Lafcadio, noticing the latter is much fatter than the former.

Lafcadio looks down at Sasha and says, "Ha! Sometimes a faerie just wants to be big."

The kettle that was definitely established earlier starts whistling.

Lafcadio asks, "Now, could you fetch us some tea?"

Sasha gets up as Gloriana stares at their cute butt.

Lafcadio pours some gems from the pouch and picks one up.

"One of the challenges of living in your world."

Lafcadio puts the gem in his mouth.

Lafcadio crunches down on the gem with a loud "crunch".

Lafcadio swallows the gem.

Sasha kneels on the cushion like a good pet while watching the two ogres.

Gloriana says, "Aren't they divine? My girls found them in a fresh branch of the labyrinth."

She adds, "Of course, I let them keep some so I can eat them later."

Lafcadio says, "I don't mind fresh gems. Magic is magic."

Lafcadio and Gloriana sit down at the kitchen table as Sasha walks over to the fridge.

"Sasha is a big fan of gemfarers," Lafcadio says.

Gloriana asks, "So they're not a pet? But you collared them?"

"That's a birthday present from Brock," Lafcadio explains.

Sitting at the table, Gloriana pushes the small pouch towards Lafcadio while looking over to Sasha at the counter.

Lafcadio asks, "You remember Brock?"

Gloriana says, "That sweet man. Is this his new den?"

Lafcadio replies, "No, he's still with Leland."

Gloriana asks, "Leland is also a den?"

Sasha approaches the table carrying a slice of cake. Even though Gloriana is sitting, they barely come up to her shoulder.

"Would you like the last slice of cake?" Sasha asks.

"Is that chocolate? Of course dear," Gloriana replies.

Lafcadio adds, "you can get chocolate anything here."

Gloriana happily takes a bite with a fork? Or maybe her hand?

"Oh I love chocolate! I get some whenever I'm down South!"

Leland asks, "You have to travel for chocolate?"

Gloriana points to the floor and summons a fancy cushion next to the table.

"Have a seat, dear," she says, before answering their question, "I need much more than what you find in import shops."

Lafcadio explains, "Our realm has more localized economies."

Lafcadio and Sasha, each in their own panels, stare at Gloriana, in a third panel, entering through the doorway, which is now a swirling magic portal.

"Lafcadiooo!", she says, "I brought you treats!"

Gloriana is an ogre fairy with big, swirly hair that covers one of her horns. She has wide hips, but is nowhere near as fat as Lafcadio. She also has a long, thick tail. She is carrying a small pouch.

She stops in front of Sasha and gazes down at them while reaching out to stroke their hair. Her tail is swaying towards them as well.

"Oh, what's this?", she exclaims, "You didn't say you had a pet! And they're so cute!"

A blushing Sasha replies with "Um. Hi".

Lafcadio approaches and says "Gloriana, this is Sasha. They are staying with me for a while".

Gloriana continues to stroke Sasha's face while her tail wraps around their legs.

They are attending college in our realm in the Spring," Lafcadio explains, "I wrote them a recommendation letter".

On the bookcase-lined wall are a calendar with November 15th circled, a photo that appears to show Lafcadio and Gloriana with four human-sized figures, and Lafcadio's diploma.

Hank and Griff are walking Beowoof. Hank says, "And tomorrow I need to set up the hall. So you need to take Beowoof on his morning walk".

They turn towards the front entrance to Bear Corner. Hank says "Hear that, buddy? It's just papa tomorrow".

As they walk down the front hallway, Griff says, "I hope Sasha is doing okay. I can't believe their parents just kicked them out".

They round the corner and walk towards the elevator. Beowoof tugs on his leash towards Lafcadio's apartment door, by the stairs.

"What do you mean? Your parents kicked you out too," Hanks says.

"That was the 80's. It's 2019, we're supposed to be better now," Griff says as he takes off his coat.

The clank of a metal door can be heard from the elevator alcove.

Outside the elevators, next to the mailboxes, is Abigail. She is a slender Black woman with hair that poofs out in the front and the lower back. She is wearing a sweater, sweatpants, and boots.

"Hey, Mr. Castle. Ready for tomorrow?" she asks.

"Absolutely not, Abigail. How is your evening?" Hank replies as he presses the elevator call button.

Abigail replies, "It's been a trial".

The group continues to chat while waiting for the elevator.

"My aunt told me she was up all night scrying," Abigail says.

"I thought I heard a lot of noise next door," Griff says.

"And I got a visit from the Lord of Nightmares," Abigail adds.

"Sounds scary," Hank says.

Abigail leans down to pet Beowoof with a smile on her face.

"Nah, they're chill," she says, "Whiny, tho".

Abigail and Griff wave goodbye as Abigail leaves.

"Good luck with whatever that is," Hank says.

Abigail replies, "I plan on staying out of it. See you tomorrow!"

The elevator arrives. Hank says to Griff, "We should check on her aunt, Griff. Her son is out of town".

Inside the elevator, Hank presses the floor button.

"Okay, but if I see any old gods, I'm leaving," Griff says.

Hank says, "I ran into some bears in my dreams last night. Maybe they ditched the old nightmare guy".

The doors close with a ding. Abigail walks up the stairs. Behind her, the intercom panel next to Lafcadio's door goes "beeep".

Realized I needed to design a character for the 3 page post-chapter story. It's the bear druid Hank mentions (on Wednesday, I guess). His name is Grandreamer Bartholomew and he's not really into clothes.

An anthropomorphic bear. He's a fat, hairy, old man with kind, wrinkled eyes and is wearing nothing but pants. He is holding a staff and needs to be hunched over more, but I figured it was best to draw him upright for the initial design.

Hey #comics, back in '93, I bought a history of comics at a scholastic fair. In a chapter on the rise of new styles at Marvel/DC (like Sienkievicz), there was an example panel that resembled this, but I can't remember what comic it was from. Does anyone recognize it?

Also also, that infamous Captain America drawing was clearly based on Deejay's Street Fighter art but the arm was moved, ruing the perspective. No one ever mentions this.
