Currently reading Black In the Woods. 19th century abolitionist owned vast swaths of land in the Adirondacks. In the 1840s, he offered 40-60 acre plots to Black settlers. Just getting into this book; seems he wasn't entirely successful. This is really local to where I live.

Ziggy's life is really tough. He supervises anytime I change guitar 🎸 strings. He kibitzes when I'm writing an article. And periodically, he inspects the basement to make sure it's shipshape and Bristol fashion.

My current read: Gerrit Smith was an NY abolitionist who owned vast tracts of land in the Adirondack mountains. In the mid 1840s, offered 40-60 acre plots to ~3000 Black settlers at no charge. It's history from below, local to where I live. Catching up on what I shoulda learned in school.

I've written elsewhere: I honestly thought people in the UK and Europe had more sense than here in the US. When I visited Germany last year, VW Golf sedan and estate, and similar vehicles from other manufacturers, seemed to be the dominant size. Love my Golf estate.
