35 years ago today this happened. I’d grown up in the belief it could never happen, but then it did. It’s not been easy and even now reunification is an ongoing process. However, it makes me wonder what good things may be just around the corner that we currently think are impossible.

Sorry, this is not about research but upcoming national elections in Germany. After a somewhat dysfunctional left-green-liberal coalition, there is now strong support for the right (CDU) and ultra right (AfD). No doubt the next country to swing back to a very conservative government. Depressing
