Another weekend on the road capturing the big skids of the Drift Masters championship. Approximately 16,000 photos captured over four days (mirrorless cameras are a nightmare for overshooting, but you rarely miss the shot)

My favourite part of the McGregor debacle was when he put his hands up asking the other lad to stop hitting him and the other lad hit him anyway. Fuckin sucks when people ignore the word ‘no’ isn’t it Conor?

I've been shooting drifting for over 20 years, and I'm still awed by the sport still continuing to grow. My belief is that this is because it’s the last of the heavy metal motorsports. It's big, loud and unapologetic in a world where a lot of other motorsports have become sanitised.

I’ve seen this narrative countless times over the years from F1 journalists and despite having worked in motorsport for 20+ years, I still have no idea how someone can be ‘beaten’ in practice.

Some highlights from Drift Masters in Spain. Jarama is a tough track to shoot, particularly from a drift perspective. There’s a couple of obvious / easy shots, but you really have to work for the rest.

No spoilers, but honestly stunned by how good Resident Evil Requiem is on Switch 2. As an older gamer, I could never have imagined such a capable handheld. Also, that Porsche collaboration is neat 👌

In the midst of sorting home energy upgrades for our new house, and feeling quite delighted for the bill we received to pump the external walls with insulation, top up our attic insulation & install some vents in rooms where previous owner had blocked them. A grand total of €1.64 after grants.

We’ve just bought our first (and hopefully last) home, so I can finally have home charging and make the transition to EV in the near future. Naturally, I’ve already lost the run of myself and have ruined the car before I’ve decided if it’s even the one I might buy.

Well, if that’s not the most unusual retirement I’ve seen in a very long time. The lone Mustang hit a Kangaroo on Conrod Straight at 250km/h in near darkness at the start of the Bathurst 12HR. Driver okay, but he probably needs a shower…

Award for most interesting car in my local supermarket car park goes to… I’m almost sure it’s a replica, but it doesn’t take away from how cool it is. Also, I know you’d expect a car photographer to take a better photograph, but accompanying little human added another layer of difficulty.

I’ve no idea why we were throwing back to 2016 recently, but I did enjoy looking through what I shot that year. This was a particular unusual day which involved exploring abandoned airplanes, an empty runway and a Jaguar XJ220.

I will never grow tired of triple-twin spoke wheels. The nostalgia for me is immense, as there was a similar style of wheel fitted to my first favourite drift car, the HKS RS-1. These are Strom’s RF3 as fitted to James Deane’s S14A. Incidentally, it might be the most successful drift car ever?

I'm so proud to work with clients who value real photography in real locations. No AI generated images, no trickery, just lots of planning, permits, early starts and a little bit of luck with the weather. Recent commercial work for Volkswagen, shot on-location in Co.Dublin late last year.
Three Volkswagen vehicles are parked side by side in a coastal car park. The sun is beginning to rise on the left hand side of the image, with a warm glow spreading. The vehicle nearest the camera, a purple Tayron SUV, has its boot open. There are two people sitting in the boot with a dog taking in the moment while enjoying a hot drink. They are both dressed in sea swim attire and dry robes.

I want to really focus on my commercial & editorial automotive work for 2026. I have very strong feelings on the current state of content creation, and would like to try and rally against the idea that content should be disposable. Also, human creativity > AI, but that's another discussion.

This will be my first time in a long time not being in the Formula E paddock, which feels strange still. I spent four full seasons as a team photographer and enjoyed my time in the championship immensely. I would love to work in FE again, but understand how unlikely that is.

I’ve wanted to incorporate @edhawkins.org Climate Stripes into some of Envision Racing’s photography for a while. The stripes here represent the progressive heating of our planet from 1850 to 2024. I hope to create a series of these based on our 2025 travels.
Climate Stripes, which highlight the progressive heating of our planet from blue to red, sit atop a muted photograph of the opening lap of the 2025 Mexico City ePrix. Racecars can be seen tackling the stadium section of the circuit, in front of a capacity crowd. The only hint of colour is the green Envision Racing Gen3 Evo of Sebastian Buemi in the foreground.
