And also, there is an extremely strong argument that your choices for this House seat were Marcy Kaptur or a Republican
Kaptur won the 2024 election 48.3% to 47.6% with a margin of less than 2,500 votes

Lots of charts like these out there for jobs, GDP, GDP per capita, etc Much less media attention around the point at which jobs are fully recovered because as long as the trend is in the right direction, couple of months matter much less than start/end or existence of a recession

Not sure it's worth reading too much into this because it sounds like no one really knows for sure what actually went wrong
Tigert, who sent the 2025 letter to QTS, said the utility didn’t know about the water hookups because the connection process “got mixed up” as the county transitioned to a cloud-based system while also trying to accommodate an industrial customer. Tigert also said her staff is small and at capacity.

“Just like any water system, we don’t have enough staff. We can’t keep staff,” she said. “I’ve got one person that’s doing inspections and plan review, and so he’s spread pretty thin.”

She said it’s possible her staff did know about hookups but that she hadn’t been able to locate the inspection report. “I may have hit ‘send’ too soon,” she said about the 2025 letter to QTS.

Rents not increasing similarly seems to indicate it's not really driven by any fundamentals. Last time housing prices increased like this in 2005-07, people thought a lot of incorrect things about housing price increases, so the false optimism is gone instead replaced with a connection to recession

I think it depends a little bit on how you define the area of policy we are talking about. I identify a lot with this Fareed Zakaria quote www.cato.org/blog/liberta...
The reason that libertarians seem extreme and odd is not that they are a furious minority, angry at a world that seems to have passed them by, but rather the opposite. They are heirs to a tradition that has changed the world. Consider what classical liberalism stood for in the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was against the power of the church and for the power of the market; it was against the privileges of kings and aristocracies and for dignity of the middle class; it was against a society dominated by status and land and in favor of one based on markets and merit; it was opposed to religion and custom and in favor of science and secularism; it was for national self-determination and against empires; it was for freedom of speech and against censorship; it was for free trade and against mercantilism. Above all, it was for the rights of the individual and against the power of the church and the state….

The reason that libertarianism seems narrow and naive is that having won 80 percent of the struggles it has fought over the last two centuries, it is now forced to define itself wholly in terms of the last 20 percent. Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice if you were in Prussia in the 1850s, but in America in the 1960s? Libertarianism has become extreme because the world has left it no recourse.

IMO, the thing that dramatically changed since 2022 is the cost of buying relative to renting. If you are ~35, for much of your adult life buying was cheaper. 30% of your income on a mortgage is cheap if you currently pay 35% in rent but expensive if you rent for 25%

If you aren't familiar with Massie, this quote is the quickest way to catch up. So many levels to it reason.com/2017/03/15/t...
"All this time," Massie explained, "I thought they were voting for libertarian Republicans. But after some soul searching I realized when they voted for Rand and Ron and me in these primaries, they weren't voting for libertarian ideas—they were voting for the craziest son of a bitch in the race. And Donald Trump won best in class, as we had up until he came along."

Many of them depend significantly on the quality of the execution. If you throw together a knight costume in 20 minutes from stuff you have at home, it will be really bad. But if you go raid a Medieval Time wardrobe and borrow the horse, that might be #1. But Walker? How could it be good?

did a quick Google search and uh, wow, the comparison is much worse than I would have guessed www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
"We are quite profitable," said Eric Schmidt, the former chief executive of software firm Novell who this week took the helm from Google co-founder Larry Page. "And we are not one of those companies that reached profitability because we didn't buy any pencils during the quarter."

Mr Schmidt, who has been chairman of privately owned Google for three months, said the Silicon Valley company had made an operating profit in the first half of 2001 and a net profit in the three months to July. Only a few big internet players have reached profitability in the US, including eBay and Priceline.

Analysts said Google, which is used by 50m web surfers each month, has won a loyal fan base thanks to the clarity and speed of its searches. Where competitors have cluttered their sites with banner adverts and expensive content - and irritated users by taking payments for skewing searches - Google offers a fast, no-frills service.

"It searches a higher proportion of the web than most other engines," said Rebecca Ulph, an analyst at Forrester Research, "and it is increasingly used to power the searches behind other portals."

Another analyst told reporters Google's revenue could reach $50m next year.

Google already supplies some search technology to its larger rival Yahoo!, the once profitable portal which - despite attracting 200m users a month - fell into the red earlier this year after its advertising orders dropped off.

You're not wrong that it can be done. They just would have had to change fundamental things about the way to app works. Not my area of expertise, but this is the key comment from @danabra.mov github.com/bluesky-soci...
GitHub comment: I've looked at this today. So far it doesn't seem to be possible to add a Referer header on iOS (without dropping down from SFSafariViewController to WKWebView which I'd rather not do) or on Android (where CustomTabsIntent only takes CORS-safelisted headers, which Referer is not).
