Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 17hI confess I actually feel a bit sorry for her, despite all her numerous flaws. Even the least amount of vetting would have spared her the embarrassment of the pressor and the last five days. But apparently none was done beyond making sure she'd gone to the hairdresser. Trump just chews people up. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 10/10/2026If this continues, someone should sue the IRS for not allowing our contributions to politicians to be tax exempt. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yes, embarrassing now to have caught and mounted butterflies when I was a kid. In retrospect, in a pre-digital time, we collected coins, stamps, baseball cards - and butterflies. The only way to have something was to possess it, physically. I don't think people collect much of anything any more! 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I wanted to show you two of the Peacock butterflies I caught in Germany in 1974. When I was a boy I collected butterflies and moths and mounted them, adding a few European varieties when I was older. The Peacocks were my favorites. Today I would never collect butterflies, only photograph them. 😇 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Wow! What a discussion! Back-and-forth, smart, respectful, nonargumentative, problem-solving as goal, mechanics of moving rhetoric to reality, honest empathy; in short, inspiring. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Horrifying that this would be a conscious choice of these thugs. The nod to Nazi Germany is clear. 010 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I have lots of cardinal flower here and they are truly hummingbird magnets! 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 07/07/2026I see them in my garden in Michigan. Many wild evening primroses in the beds. Thanks for all the info about their feeding preferences. Then there was this stunning beauty one year as well! Pandora Sphinx Moth? 120 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Thanks for the tip! I didn't see you wash yours so I didn't wash mine. My fingers didn't get yellow, however. The bugs: I picked out the bugs in the bottom of the bowl after de-stemming the flowers. Most were much smaller than poppy seeds. Maybe only 1/10 the size. They were really tiny!! 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 21/06/2026The elderflower flavor is quite subtle, but still noticeable. I'm enjoying the cookies, savoring them for the work that went into them: gathering, cleaning and separating the flowers from the stems AND fishing out all the teeny tiny bugs and spiders. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Turned out pretty good, although I haven't tasted them yet! It took a long time to get the flowers off the stems, but I learned some tricks pretty quickly. You didn't tell us about all the little bugs that came scampering off the flowers though! Extra protein in the cookies. Haha. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Look what I harvested today! I'll make the cookies this afternoon!! 110 0

Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 31/05/2026I have Japanese honeysuckle in the yard and must dig it out wherever I see it, despite the fragrance. It's terribly invasive. You are lucky to have a less invasive species!! 100 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 19/05/2026I finally bit the bullet and bought the kitchen scale I told you I'd buy. Now I can follow your recipes more precisely, Peter, weigh my flour to the very gram and then add spices or salt or fat or baking powder, etc. just like you do, with a rounded teaspoon or tablespoon, whatever's close. Haha. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 18/05/2026While I appreciate your humor, Adam, this is horrific. That Trump's corruption is so blatant, means he fears no resistance or repercussions. Is there no hope here? Will this outrage actually happen? 6334 0

Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 13/04/2026Thanks! A great history lesson. That sliver of territory was called Transcarpathia and its northern border did indeed run along the crest of the Carpathians, as one would expect. For centuries it was part of Hungary, between WWI and II Czechoslovakia, then Hungary again, and finally Soviet Ukraine. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 09/04/2026Victoria, Unlike in Canada, Australia, the UK, and the EU, on whom he repeatedly dumped vitriol, Trump has utterly gushed over Hungary. There is little reason for the Hungarians to loathe Trump as much as the people in these other nations. I hope you are right, but the trip may help Orbán. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 07/04/2026How true, Charlie! Of course, introspection that leads to insight and commitment to the preciousness and incredible rarity of life happens on the planet as well. Most have that intellectual and emotional capacity, others seem to lack it. It's important worldwide we elect leaders who have it. 000 0

Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 19/01/2026Jen, you're equating the Olympics with the World Cup! No European or South American nation in their right mind would pull its team from the World Cup for all the tea in China. Besides 2/3 of the sponsorship is from the good guys, Mexico and Canada. 😀 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 24/12/2025Haha. I hope not. I meant snowshoeing of course. Where's the spell checker when you need it? 010 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 23/12/2025Peter and Tommy, Holiday greetings to you from Michigan, USA. The photo is from a shoesnowing hike I took just behind my house along the fairways of a golf course. 110 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 07/12/2025Interesting is R's assumption that kids are going to public school. Republican line is go elsewhere. Many home school kids (no child care costs), others to expensive parochial, miltary or private schools. Aside from the extra taxes required for public schools, this idea is crazy for a Republican. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 03/12/2025Jay, Since SCOTUS says that POTUS can't be held criminally responsible for actions taken as part of their pres. duties, why doesn't Trump say he gave the order to kill the survivors? He's untouchable. Of course, ala Nuremberg, it still wouldn't absolve underlings who carried out the order. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 24/11/2025Hast du die Reportagen aus den USA gesehen, dass der originelle 28-Punkte Plan von Trump ursprünglich von Russen geschrieben wurde. Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 13/10/2025Oh, don't fret, Austin. Wait a week or so and "radical left" will have been supplanted by "Antifa." Seriously, what to do about yet another baseless provocation? Responding at all seems to play into their hands and yet such distortions of reality need to be called out. A conundrum. 010 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 11/10/2025How about a Dem debate on the core functions of the federal government v desirable ones. What is federalism all about? Dems can show they are in touch with the national mood if they engage in an honest and public debate on this topic within its own ranks. Defense? Civil Rights? Is this too cerebral? 000 0

Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 23/08/2025I totally support you in this article. Excellent. My question is how you interpret "She pleaded for mercy in the name of God" in Henry Bibb's 1849 memoir. The woman was certainly not Christian, but Bibb's was clearly appealing to Christian readers, correct? What is the backstory here? Thanks! 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 09/08/2025Total nicht verhandelbar. Das macht Trumps "Friedens"-Vorschläge lächerlich und gefährlich. 020 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 27/05/2025You are amazing, Ferris! I got 7/10 and was proud of myself! Good lesson in that the images here had no reason to deceive. It matters more when deception is the goal. So IDing signs in a neutral setting is great teaching device. Hands, reflections, slickness, etc. Thanks for the post. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 22/05/2025Always risky to join a debate about Israel and being misunderstood: I agree with you: what you put in quotes is not "party line." But Pete, whom I support at least 99%, inserted "antisemitic" before violence. We don't know if the shooter was antisemitic or anti-Israel. No need for an adjective here. 000 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 16/05/2025Here in Mid-Michigan that would mean we'd get eggs for at most 12 cents a dozen. Not a price I've seen recently at local markets. What? Most of Trump's schemes went bankrupt? What a surprise! 010 0
Patrick McConeghy @pmcconeghy.bsky.social · 06/05/2025Altho I don't like the CDU/CSU, I am thankful that Germany is not plunged into a political crisis at this critical time because of a handful of disgruntled reps in the SPD. That's all that the AfD, Trump, and Vance could hope for. 000 0
