This is all I have. (Except some killer pillowcases).

Talk ‘em out of their minds, Pete. The opposition can barely follow you let alone respond intelligently. You’re leading the way.

“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.” ~ John Muir

The underground bunker better be well stocked.

By the end I know them so well. But endings are brutal anyway.

My bison go both ways. 🤷‍♂️

I got mine one week ago today and I’m still sick. Getting better but, yeesh!

Powell’s City of Books is in Portland.

If she’s at Powell’s I’ll look for her there. I’m in Salem. Love love love Powell’s.

BTW, Whistler is read by Ann and at the end she reads acknowledgments including a STERN warning about copyright. No words may be used to contribute to AI. It’s great! She’s fist-pounding firm.

It’s only in hardback at present so look for a used copy.

Lyn @plontlyn.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I used to but anymore I don’t because some people want to hang them on the wall.

Have you read Whistler? Patchett includes a bit about painting miniatures. It’s sweet. The whole book is.

I have a flannel filled quilt. It has a nice drape. Hard to hand quilt but machine quilting is easy. You can quilt far apart but it’ll never be fluffy soft. It’ll be heavier than it looks and wrap around you nicely. The in-the-ditch will work if the top is securely pieced. Or 1/4 inch on each side.

The judgments people make are so weak, but the world is evolving slowly. When I think of the suppression and intolerance that was the norm in my younger days, it just makes me shake my head. Even with all that’s festering right now, we are still better off as a whole than when I was growing up. 🧶2U.

Thanks for sharing. I’m working on my border now. Such a great project.

I hadn’t quilted a fair sized piece before last year but I just goat a wild hair and decided to do it. It turned out SO well. Softest quilt I’ve ever made. And I loved cuddling up to hand quilt it all winter long. I don’t think I want to pass another winter without a quilt to stitch. Have fun.

The quilt will love you for her appliqués.

Oh, dear. Well, my guild’s president is a gay man quilter and he’s just the best sort of leader we could hope for. Don’t give up.

IDK how big it is but I have its twin by a different mother. Same story. Bought it for next to nothing and have yet to try quilting it because it’s HUGE! Round the world 2” squares.

Stunning! I bow to your artistry. I took mine apart and remade the Hawaiian block. Working on the border now. This has really been fun!

My understanding would be that what you’re considering will be softer or tighter depending on the size of your squares. Also, the type of batting you use. Less dense quilting makes for a softer drape. I like kind of big stippling if I’m after fluffy. Wool batting stays fluffy, cotton gives puckery.

Feel better, you. East of Eden—Best book. Watched 1st episode, then into Cathy’s backstory my husband cringed it off. Cops n crime, guns spraying, chase-scene violent conflicts are, I guess, okay. But not men abusing women. Interesting avoidance.

Orphan block potholders or mug-rugs are fun!

I love the back! I’ve never made a quilt as you go quilt. Only runners and wall hanging art pieces. I back them to finish with a solid (uncut) piece of fabric, attached only at the edges and then bind the whole thing. Not sure how it would work with a large quilt. And it would hide the entire back.

Not wanting to sound sexist or condescending, but I just want to say I truly appreciate the men who have started quilting and making fabric art. It’s a challenging and satisfying medium. Used to be men chopping wood to keep the family warm and women stitching. Now we both do both. How great is that!

I’m late to your hungry self, but I like throwing a few strips of turkey bacon in the microwave until crispy and slicing a ripe tomato. BLT on toasted WW with some mayo and Romaine leaves. For a special crunch, put some potato chips in that sandwich. Satisfying crunch and tomato.

I just adopted a newborn Juki. Isn’t it beyond fun and exciting to have a new machine!!!!! Congratulations!

This is Glenda’s block. Totally different colors. So cool.

Awesome ocean. I’m loving all the ocean representations.

Thanks so much, Elizabeth. Perhaps the future will be brighter, like the future block. I regret that I didn’t choose to use more color in the Hawaiian block. Its significance is lost. I’m still considering remaking that if I can find the time before the whole thing is due to be completed.

#Quiltsky Here are the four blocks that will be bordered with the final design of an indigenous quilter.

AND, I have a ginormous laundry basket under my cutting table. I call it the land of forgotten scraps.

Lyn @plontlyn.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I had a friend come over to my place and sit me down. Here, 12 cartons. One for each color. Put all your pink pieces in this box, the reds in here, and so on. I now have six bins to sort into bc I NEVER press and put colors into color cartons right away.

#Quiltsky That assortment of the small pieces up top NEEDS to come down to eye level. I’m not using it where it’s stashed (pun intended).

120

#Quiltsky I’m doing a reorg. Whew. It’s Tetris or Jenga or just silly. I think I’m done for the day. Will sort on another day now that the new metal shelving is in place. My wooden shelves were sagging. Heavy stash.

I hunt for weird stuff to make art quilts. Or just super fun prints in cotton. It sometimes makes the design more than artistic—there’s a memory or message there. Or else, it’s just the fun of the hunt. 🤪

I am especially drawn to upcycled fabric choices.

Wow! Kudos and love to each creator.

I was in Seattle yesterday. Left my sister’s place on Bainbridge via early ferry to catch a train home. An overcast sky broke open long enough to let me witness sunrise over the city.
