Statement from Queers For Solidarity, we are publicly calling on all Northern Pride committees and festivals to officially rescind or uninvite Northern Ireland Executive Parties from participating in official Pride festivals until further notice.

Dear Belfast Pride and Regional Pride Committees of Northern Ireland,

We, Queers for Solidarity, stand united in our commitment to the rights and dignity of all LGBTQ+ individuals. In light of the recent decision by the Northern Ireland Executive to ban puberty blockers for under-18s, and the increasing hostility towards trans people from Executive Parties, we call upon you to take a firm stand.

We urge Belfast Pride and all regional Pride committees to actively rescind or uninvite political parties within the Northern Ireland Executive from participating in any formal events related to Pride festivals this year. The decision to ban puberty blockers is not only a direct attack on the rights of trans youth but also a broader signal of disregard for the well-being and autonomy of our community.

Pride is a celebration of our identities, our struggles, and our resilience. It is a space where we should feel safe, supported, and empowered. Allowing political parties that have enacted harmful policies to participate in these events undermines the very essence of what Pride stands for.

We believe that by taking this stand, we can send a powerful message that our community will not tolerate actions that harm our most vulnerable members. Let us come together to ensure that Pride remains a beacon of hope, love, and solidarity for all.
