Trump should be forced to repay every dollar, plus HIGE fines designed to deter this kind of thing.

It would be a HUGE mistake to locate the Sonics that far outside of Seattle, IMO. I was a season ticket holder the last 20 years before they moved, my Dad for all 40, & I went to at least 5 games every year of their existence, but that’s too far for me. I’m out, if they do that.

Senator, I could be wrong, but isn’t it just as illegal for a president to direct PAC spending in this way?

He will if Trump doesn’t pardon him first. Stranger things have happened.

Anybody involved in prosecuting CHILDREN in this manner, alone & without representation, should go straight to Hell where they belong.

I would say “that’s crazy” but it’s no crazier than what happened in the U.S. I mean, at least Brazil held this guy’s father accountable. I would think it was nearly as stupid to elect Donald Trump, Jr. in 2024 as it was to elect Donald Trump, Sr., but it would at least have been less corrupt.

Generation Jones here. To me, it’s the day the OJ verdict came down, & the beginning of all that followed THAT. A bit before the typical Millenial’s time, though.

Every time I see someone post “It’s like he is TRYING to…” followed by something most politicians would find unthinkably dumb, I think first “He’s incapable of coherent strategery” (to use GWB’s word), and then think, to the extent he is capable, “he’s testing how far he can go & get away with it.”

It’s going to be a weird cycle because I agree with you that it’ll take full-on MAGA to win the Republican primary (I think, at this point at least), but I also think the closer the MAGA affiliation of the nominee is, the worse he or she will do in the general.

Sorry about the fat fingers typing. Edit button please! “Sir” & “siring” = “air” & “airing.”

They’re also going to need to do proactive stuff, regardless of veto threats, if they don’t want to tank ‘28. The biggest danger to flipping the House & Senate is being perceived as being as do-nothing as this Republican House & Senate. Yes, sweet to paint Trump in a corner, but smart politics, too.

REALLY, really bad business decision by MS NOW to take that money & sir those ads. They can blather on all day about how siring an ad isn’t an endorsement of its message, but how fo you air one your own anchors have lambasted as propaganda & theft of taxpayer funds for political purposes?

You are better than me for checking out something that didn’t make sense. I couldn’t bring myself to do it…though I saw the misleading headline on MULTIPLE stories, so I just reacted to the headline. Mea culpa.

Thanks for the link. That makes more sense, though I don’t think a court-approved subpoenas for content-less toll records of phones an investigatory subject or target was in contact with during the conspiratorial commission of a felony has a much better chance of succeeding.

Please don’t give Tillis or anybody else credit for tough talk in private while capitulating in public (at least until he decided not to run again).

Apart from the sheer absurdity of this (which I know is the main story), the legal nerd in me wonders what POSSIBLE standing Blackburn could have to sue for any “damage” to Trump’s reputation (as if that’s even possible) from somebody “mocking” Trump? This is even dumber than it looks.

This is not the first time Trump has done this, or the first time a court has told him he can’t, right? What is the status of appeals of those earlier cases? Or am I wrong to think they involved the same issues?

The irony of the “but he’s a promising young man” excuse/pass these men are given is that very occasionally, when it comes out, the consequences for them may arguably be worse & longer-lasting. As it should be, if for nothing else than their refusal to accept ANY kind of accountability.

That’s because it ISN’T bad. It’s common investigative practice. If you’re investigating a crime involving preventing the transition of power in Congress (that requires at least *some* congressional involvement), you should find out which congressional leaders the target was talking to.

That’s not unexpected - I’m guessing they’ll let the new manager pick his own staff (which could involve re-hiring some of these guys, I suppose). Of these, the only one I’ll really lose any sleep over is Perry Hill, though. He’s gotten nothing but VERY positive reviews from multiple players.

Pete Livengood @plivengood.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I agree that the bulk of the “blame” belongs with the players, but through the entirety of Dan Wilson’s managerial tenure, his management of the bullpen was pretty head-scratching. That surprised me - I thought as a former catcher, handling the pitching staff would’ve been a strength.

You’d think we’d have learned this lesson by now, but even setting sh*tty politics aside, we should not be electing people who lack the temperament to do the job they’re running for. Vance certainly lacks that.

I don’t really believe ANY data coming out of this Administration, but I would expect that those numbers will be drastically (but quietly) adjusted downward in coming months.

*The Pentagon* does not plan this. That says nothing about what the White House is planning, & we all know that whether or not the General is including Hegseth as part of “the Pentagon” who is not currently planning this, Hegseth will do whatever Trump wants.

The doctrine of “standing” needs some serious reform if it enables a president to lawlessly tear down public property. The idea that if everybody is damaged generally/equally & nobody is particularly damaged, nobody can sue (simplifying here) is not logical or well thought out.

This just serves as a reminder to be just as petty & NEVER hang a portrait of Trump anywhere, ever. And take his name off of EVERYTHING. He is the exemplar & embodiment of presidential corruption & misconduct. He deserves NO honor.

I think I’d go further & say part of the Reconstruction should be to encourage the formation of a Conservative Party & the death of the Republican Party & casting out & marginalization of MAGA entirely. Not sure if or how that can be done, but any Reconstruction without it is incomplete.

The funny part is they could let Royce White into the WNBA & he probably wouldn’t be good enough to make a team. He wasn’t much good at 23 (his last NBA experience, which lasted all of *3* minutes, without a point, rebound, or assist), & he certainly hasn’t gotten better in the dozen years since.

And ~ a dozen other corrupt schemes, each of which will make Watergate look like child’s play. Congress’s complete abdication of its oversight role, its function as a check on an out of control executive, & ultimately its obligation to remove a criminally corrupt president is as big a scandal.

This is great legal work, but I’d have one question for Ms. Attiah: other than recovering back pay & perhaps reputational damages, was one of her goals ever REALLY to go back to work for WaPO? If so, why? Bezos has ruined that paper.

Probably, and I say that as an American. Our current government cannot be trusted as an ally or trade partner, whatsoever. Just please reconsider once we’re able to rid ourselves of the Orange Buffoon & can restore sanity & order to world affairs & trade.

I think those questions were numerous & serious before I’d ever heard of Natalie Harp. People in WH positions who can’t get a security clearance, boxes & boxes of stolen classified documents stored in bathrooms & ballrooms of a public club, etc., etc. They’ve NEVER taken national security seriously.

Frankly, it HAS been scary for months, years. Trump does something CLEARLY impeachable on pretty much a weekly basis, & nobody does anything. That’s bad enough for do-nothing R’s, but D’s should AT LEADT be filing Articles of Impeachment *every time.* EVERY week, for every new, outrageous act.

C’mon Forbes. That headline misleading at best. I don’t in ANY way condone what Mangione did, but his lawyers are no asking for anything that isn’t based on good faith arguments based on well-established (if unusually broad) NY law prohibiting double jeopardy prosecutions. Not a case of hypocrisy.

I have a VERY hard time imagining Donald Trump both mounting or successfully riding a horse, though I find the act of imagining both fairly amusing.

It is really hard to understand how dumb you’d have to be to say such a thing with a straight face. Does this guy not realize that the average human life expectancy 10,000 years ago (much less 100,000 years ago) was 20 to 35 years old? Does this guy think all these people met their ends violently?

That should result in IMMEDIATE impeachment. And would have during the administration of ANY other president. Sadly, Republicans cannot be trusted to put country over party even in the most dire of circumstances. Which is why they have to go. ALL of them.

This is so maddening. There used to be hell to pay for lying like this, both from the media, and from voters. We will not right this ship called Democracy until we start to demand that again.

Pete Livengood @plivengood.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
Also - as if this weren’t already true - it would seem like they’re rolling out the red carpet for some sort of malicious prosecution case. It’s hard to imagine many more egregious examples of that sort of thing than what the Trump Administration regularly cooks up, & this one’s a doozie.

Exactly. It was over ten years ago that I decided my default position on anything Trump says is that he’s lying, until incontrovertible proof emerges that he has told the truth (usually by accident on that rare occasion). It sure makes things easier.
