It's genuinely amazing how just treating a teenager like their own autonomous person with thoughts and feelings and life goals can immediately make you a safe adult in their eyes? In related news- one of the 19-year-olds in a discord server I'm in has started trusting me enough to spam DM me memes

I just thought I'd share my earliest thumbnail for a piece VS it's finished result Don't forget that sometimes, it's important to just get the idea out of your head, you can always make it look good later.

It's so nice to actually draw this guy doing the cool fight poses I just couldn't render back when I was working on this project. I'm so proud of this so far, but MAN figuring all this out has given me a headache.

I really do love the fact that Avery was so head empty that there was space for a wholeass God in there. I also like how it's very clearly shown that he's very insecure about how empty-headed he is. #sfawtde #dawtde #wifies #averythemayo #thekinginyellow

I read through the article and through the letters sent to these paypros and you guys should too (like please actually read them, don't rely on me). It specifically cites religious and political views but the language is wide open. This is good

Longtime college friend of mine, Mike Prinke, was among those laid off at Epic Games: he has been fighting terminal brain cancer, and now he, his wife, and kid, have no income or health insurance. Sharing here in hopes it can reach the right people on their behalf. #epicgames

Making a popular show is crazy cuz you can explicitly set certain things up through clues and symbolism and there will be people who are like "I see all that, and I'm acknowledging that I see all that... Anyway my theory is that the opposite is true. ☝️😀"

saw discussion about how a lot of indies are funded by larger corporations & we need government funding for the arts, so i wanted to share this article about how gov funding can fail to actually reach creators often it just ends up going straight to the corpos who know how to apply

Honestly people who fight against this theory and don't make sense to me either? Like- you build up this character as someone who can change people's physical sex on a whim and then have them blackmail a guy bc of a transactional secret from his past you two share? That's pretty canon to me.

So I've just been getting into one piece because of a live-action and finally reading through the manga and Why did no one tell me that it's heavily implied that Crocodile might be a trans man!?

Admittedly- the funny part about getting into the Netflix One Piece is that even though I genuinely was not a OP fan, I have somehow picked up a ridiculous amount of peripheral knowledge about it?

this knocked me out

I’ve gone a long time without talking about how I translate game text. I don’t mean within this writeup, I mean ever. I’ve published several videos on the technical side of fan-translation and a big fat zero on the actual art of localization. The reason for this is very simple: I don’t want to deal with social media localization piranhas. There has never been a time more hostile to localizers with the entire industry in chaos over being replaced with AI, uprisings against “wokealizers”, and every possible excuse to raise controversy where it doesn’t exist. How bad is it, you ask? In my recent romhacking video I used a thumbnail with the simplest, most direct translation I could find in the script, specifically so that nobody could complain. The line was:

友枝小学校の４年生

I’m a 4th-grader at Tomoeda Elementary.

<picture of Hilltop's thumbnail for the video in question, with the image caption below it being "The thumbnail in question">

I really want to emphasize that this is a completely direct translation. Any change to it at all would make it worse. But was it good enough for the piranhas? Fuck no! Believe it or not, someone showed up in the replies and tried to argue that the order of the words should be 100% preserved through translation and that it should be the perfectly SOVLfully accurate:

At Tomoeda Elementary I am a 4th grader.
