Found in the breakroom this morning.
A Bananagram bag full of letter tiles sits on a table. Spelled out is “Teamworj makes the dream work”. Below it someone has added “so does money”. Our office is both inadequately staffed and underpaid, and apparently my sentiments are shared by others.

So I’ve been painting again. #ProjectHailMary #SciFiArt #SpaceArt These are for a group coaster show on the 17th! (Which I just realized, I’ll be out of town for, womp-WOMP.)
Two mostly-finished paintings lying on a table with paints and a brush. Both are from the Petrova line sample scene in Project Hail Mary above planet Adrian. The one on the left features red and silver wave shapes with a tiny HM vehicle floating through the middle. The one on the right shows the green and orange swirling atmosphere of Adrian with a silhouetted Grace floating beside the ship and astrophage sampler. Both are painted in color-shifting pearlescent watercolor on small black square coasters.

For my meteorite friends, available shortly in shirt form...
A shirt design spoofing the Fahrvergnügen Volkswagen campaign from the early 1990s. Design features a crosshatched circular logo with lines at 60º angles, forming many triangles, with text below that reads Widmanstätten.

Widmanstätten patterns form in iron-nickel meteorites, a result of iron and nickel crystallizing in zero-g, and are revealed by lightly etching the polished meteorite surface with acid. They can be thick and chunky, or fine lines as pictured above.

HYAKUTAKE IN DREAMS by Danielle Rose Baker. A pearlescent watercolor painting on black paper of comet Hyakutake, which appeared in 1996 as a beautifully long, bright green-blue comet with a large icy core easily viewed with binoculars. It’s a vivid memory from the summer I graduated high school, and it’s stayed with me ever since. STS-133 LAUNCH by Danielle Rose Baker.
A detailed technical painting in pearlescent inks of Space Shuttle Discovery leaving the launch pad for the last time in 2011. Seen is the mobile launch platform and top portion of the launch tower, a intricate structure of pipes and beams. The bottom of the tower is obscured by the exhaust plume, seen in dark grays and golds. In the background, bold colored stripes cut diagonally behind the shuttle stack from lower right to top left. A pearlescent watercolor painting on black paper of a black hole, shown with black center ringed by metallic silver paint, which swirls clockwise outwards in ribbons of reds, oranges, pinks and golds, with tinges of black.DUST OF OSIRIS by Danielle Rose Baker. A painting of the top-down view of the opened sample return capsule from the OSIRIS-REx mission to asteroid Bennu. Circular sections and hexagonal bolts are seen among the rocky material in the middle ring, framed by lotus flower motifs and patterned circles with geometric ink designs drawn in an ancient Egyptian style with gold accents. A ring of painted turquoise, lapis and carnelian rectangles accented with gold surrounds the inkwork. I blew off social media lately, and for that I apologize. But I can’t let #ArtAdventCalendar pass without posting at least ONCE! So here’s something different, a photo of a lone surfer, three weeks ago during the King Tides at Cannon Beach #Oregon, just two days before all the flooding hit.
A lone surfer braves the crazy waves during king tide on 12/6/25, seen from Ecola State Park north of Cannon Beach, on the northern Oregon coast. The scene is moody and mostly monotones with a pearl-gray cloudy sky, dark waves and silvery reflections crossing horizontally across the photo. An arch rock thrusts upwards in the upper left corner of the photo, with misty spray obscuring the arch. The weather is windy and cold, and this person is clearly insane, but at least he has a full wetsuit on.

Okay #geology and #space friends, I need opinions. Working on a new shirt/sticker design for @rckhnd.com . Bottom is the first text I came up with, but then I thought, NASA is built on acronyms so ROCKS should be an ACRONYM. (Maybe not the best acronym—open to suggestions.) Which do you prefer?

A pearlescent watercolor painting on black of the jellyfish galaxy JW39 as seen by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The galaxy core is seen in golds and whites, with fainter arms punctuated by clusters of blue and pink, aglow with forming stars. This galaxy lies over 900 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices and is part of a galaxy cluster. The intense gravitational pull of its larger neighboring galaxies distorts its shape, and as it drifts through the cluster, hot plasma between galaxies has stripped star-forming gases into long tendrils and ribbons, resembling jellyfish.HAÍFOSS WATERFALL, ICELAND by Danielle Rose Baker. Also I got an epic shot of myself holding my Jolly Rockhound design as a full-size pirate flag. It’s a good day to be a rock pirate. 😅
The author stands looking off to the left, holding a tall flagpole in her left hand, with a large black and white pirate flag blowing away towards the right. She looks and feels extremely epic. The flag features a skull in a fedora-style hat, with crossed rock pick and shovel below. She is wearing the same design on a black tshirt, with dusty jeans, hiking boots, and a sun hat, because the Central Oregon sun was beating us up, and the 0% humidity* sucks the juice from your body (*okay realistically greater than 0% but seriously, SO DRY. I literally couldn’t hydrate enough no matter what I did.) She stands among clumps of sagebrush against a light blue sky with wispy streaks of cloud.

The layers are light and dark, with pockets of vegetation along the cliff face and top of the stack. The sea is a cool blue with waves crashing against the base of the stack.

Today is Monday. I was out rockhounding most of yesterday and missed my May the 4th post, so for Revenge of the 5th, here’s a lovely X-wing. (Prints available! And sales are SUPER DUPER helpful right now.) planetaryartist.com/products/bat... #StarWars #MayThe4th #SciFiArt #watercolor #art #BuyArt

Today is Tuesday. It was harder than it should’ve been to force myself out the door early to go swim before work, but I’m glad I did. Would you like an art? Here, have one, of a king tide at Neptune State Beach last year. #watercolor #OceanArt #landscapes #NatureArt #OregonCoast #Art
KING TIDE AT NEPTUNE
A watercolor painting of the ocean during a king tide, an extreme tidal event at the Oregon Coast. The waves foam up against black rounded cobbles on the beach, with large white waves cresting and crashing further from shore, with large sprays shooting up against the horizon. The water is faintly blue-green and the skies are muted grays.

Today is Monday. We went to the coast on Saturday (our happy place), found no agates at all at our favorite spot, but we found lots of shell pieces for tumbling (yes! You can polish shells like rocks, just skip the coarse grit stages.) I’m obsessed with these sand patterns. #ocean #OregonCoast
A photo of beach sand with a small stream crossing it diagonally from lower left to upper right, forming complex patterns of light and dark sand across the lower two-thirds of the scene. The main water channel forms ripple-like patterns, with longer braided patterns of light and dark across the shallow slower-moving part of the stream. The stream’s edge is crisply defined by a shallow cliff of sand, uniformly tan-colored above the flowing water.

The world is a mess, but I still think about art nonstop. And how much I love painting the Moon, I need to do another one. Would you like to give this a home? It’s available! planetaryartist.com/products/min... #SciArt #SpaceArt #watercolor #geology
MINERAL MOON by Danielle Rose Baker.
A square watercolor painting, featuring a close up of the lunar surface with craters and seas in greens, purples, blues and oranges. This enhanced color image shows subtle differences in chemical composition and geology, highlighting subsequent volcanic flows and mineral concentrations that might otherwise evade the eye.
