Sidenote but the game LOOKS amazing too, I adore how these pre-renders look. Really love how the remaster redid the lighting on the character models too to heighten the atmosphere even more. Great stuff.

If you still don’t believe this, I highly recommend giving the original One Punch Man webcomic a look, which ONE started as a hobby for both fun and I believe to improve both his writing and artistic skills. It’s genuinely some of the most inspiring shit to see as someone who makes art.

My friends keep seeing various Homers around my city and keep sending them to me to the point that I’m starting to feel like Kenji in early 20th Century Boys

A page found early on in Naoki Urasawa’s 20th Century Boys in which Kenji receives a letter from an old friend with a symbol at the bottom, with the symbol being a poorly drawn Homer Simpson instead of the original symbol of the friends.

The page reads (from right to left) as follows
“It was from Donkey himself…”
“It’s been quite a while Kenji-kun, how are you?”
“I am doing fine.”
“Please forgive me for sending you a letter out of the blue like this”
“Do you remember this symbol?”

I mean if you’re looking for an alternative I hear Rent a Hero No.1 is pretty good, have yet to play it myself but I hear it’s like if Yakuza dropped on Dreamcast and had a big focus on the side-stories

Awe glad you liked it :) Also you’re never gonna guess but it actually DOES have a PS1 tie in by Hudson! A lot of people mistake the album for the games soundtrack but it just uses instrumentals reminiscent of it! I’ve played a bit and it’s really solid despite not being able to read any dialogue

Kinda hate that some kinda wrote it off as “wow look how edgy this comic from the 90s is, it has all this really dark shit in it” without taking the time to consider how it’s handled and the really surreal storytelling presented here yknow? Also holy shit man Sam Keith can DRAW

Started reading the original Maxx comic last night after being a fan of the MTV series for years and only three issues in I forgot how well (I think) it handles the incredibly dark subject matter at its forefront.
