Went to 2 different Hard-Offs in Taiwan, and of course, they have the same gatdamn soundtrack as the Japanese ones. With intermittent recordings of a girl excitedly talking about Hard-Off in Mandarin.

BBB Retro Game Café was so much fun. Play retro games while sipping coffee & eating toast/pastries. Played a ton of PC Engine games. I've never used a HuCARD before! Even held a Dragon Quest slime controller! They almost sold me a Famicom Disk System, but there was no power. 😭 Search continues.

Saw Resident Evil in Taipei! Fun movie, very suspenseful. There's one lore element that I found a little TOO different from the RE games, but if it was ever incorporated into a new RE game, I think it'd be pretty awesome (and terrifying).

Rare Item Studio off the beaten path in Akihabara was so good. SFC was running Fantastic Parodius with the Nutcracker Ranking music on loop, VGM bops over the speaker, great game selection, and one of the greatest deep cut game OST offerings I've ever seen! Found the Zuntata 1990 live CD here.

It's me, the annoying foreigner at several retro game stores in Japan inspecting every disc of Emerald Dragon for PC-Engine Super CD-ROM and not buying it because it's not the elusive "Revision 1" disc that's compatible with the fan translation.

A nice looking copy of Emerald Dragon for the PC Engine Super CD ROM. But it's not the one I'm looking for.

Metal Gear Solid 4 finished. As hyped as I was when this first came out in 2008, it's aged like milk. Too many cringey moments, headscratching plot threads/retcons (even for MGS), warzone gameplay was neat until it wasn't & the B&Bs were bleh. I just wanted more stealth action. Raiden was cool tho

Can't wait! I'm glad they advertised an aspect ratio option so you don't HAVE to play Terranigma in 8:7, but without being able to see the whole screen without those borders as a PNG, it's hard to say if the option they're showing is pixel aspect ratio (PAR) accurate. Guess we'll see in January.

Terranigma presented in...maybe 4:3? Idk?
