This game is based on a nightmare I had while I was taking a three hour nap in one of my college's club rooms. #Gamedev #Lowpoly #Horror

mother encore concept art (spoilers for encore act 2!)

a series of five panels in black and white.
panel 1: pippi standing on some boulders on the train tracks with two people underneath saying "get down it's dangerous!" and pippi saying "nah i'd win"
panel 2: a rocket is seen approaching pippi
panel 3: the rocket blows up the rock pippi was standing on, with a big boom explosion
panel 4: the rocket leaves the place pippi was standing on in ashes
panel 5: the camera pans to the right, showing pippi well and alive, saying "glad i wasnt that guy"

Very proud of this one, and thank you to @arseniccatnip.bsky.social for doing all the audio for me! The only thing im kinda unhappy with is when the camera circles down to show link drawing his sword, it looks weird

i was also thinking of having a big monster at the end of the catacombs dungeon to explain the appearance of these bushes, but there wasn't enough time to add that, so pippi became the boss of the dungeon instead.

originally, i wanted dead roots to rise up all over podunk rather than just the cemetery as part of the numerous paranormal events. ninten would have also had the bat from the start to destroy them. this felt too unnatural so we had them only appear in the cemetery

Here's an old piece of cut Encore content. At some point I wanted to add visible cloud shadows in the overworld. The rest of the team hated it so we ended up getting rid of it.
