Heya people from bluesky. I'm supperfangamm3, a new admin on the wiki. I've mostly helped a lot with renaming the graphics of enemies and level assets, as well as making pages for the early revisions of levels! I don't really have anything else to say, so there's that.

That is not to say that any piece of trivia with that tag is untrustworthy! This simply makes it more transparent to see if it's unknown where the information within the trivia originates from, as a lot of it comes from the defunct Pizza Tower Discord and not archived Twitch streams.

This has been planned for a while, but we have finally got around to add the "Citation Needed" template! This will be used for any piece of trivia, that does not have a source, and is primarily spread through word of mouth.

* McPig has stated that Peppino isn't actually wearing an apron, but rather a white tank top over a black t-shirt. This is because Peppino cannot afford an actual apron. [citation needed]

It was first teased in Thing of the week 1 youtu.be/pHEUBoawlm0, however it would not be added into the game proper until four months later. It was likely one of the experiments with the regular power ups, similarly to the Pepper Pizza one.

In Western Build, a Pizza Shield power up was added into the game. It could be found in some secret rooms, and it would prevent the player from losing points after getting hit once. These would stay in the game for a while, before getting cut entirely with the rework of the Secret Rooms. #PTWtrivia

Fangamer's "Pizza Tower for Nintendo Switch™ Collector's Edition" comes with a set of 10 art cards, that have every level's titlecard printed on both sides. However, one for Fun Farm is missing, which was replaced with the P-Rank screen. Mort was also edited out of CTOP's titlecard. #PTWtrivia

These animations were done before Pizzaface's idle animation was redrawn, which is likely why the shade of yellow is different. Interestingly enough, despite both animations being introduced in Eggplant build, the Flush cards uses the correct shade of yellow.

Initially, Pizzaface used a slightly different, more bright shade of yellow, along with extra shading used. This got carried over onto the Pizza Time Pizzaface animations, where the same shade of yellow is used. Everywhere else, Pizzaface uses a different, more common shade of yellow. #PTWtrivia

This game mode only appears in Peppino's Xmas Break, later brought back in Boss v0, before getting scrapped entirely.

Besides a glitch right at the start of the level, where not all objects that give points are removed, there is no way to increase score, only lose it. Once the player has finished a stage, a second sign, colored red, appears next to the entrance to the level, showing the rank they received.

Peppino, standing next to the entrance to Entrance, an earlier variant of John Gutter, with two signs, one showing the rank received on the normal playthrough, and one, colored red, showing a rank received on the Time Attack mode.

Pizza Tower Wiki @pizzatower.wiki · 13/07/2025

Very briefly, Pizza Tower featured a Time Attack mode, which could be activated after collecting a clock at the start of the level. It would set the player's score at around 12,000 points and requires to finish the level while the score slowly decreases. #PTWtrivia

December 4th, 2018:

To make up for that we are going to release an update tommorow for the demo that includes

-second factory level
-2 small challenge level representing each level"

Pepper Pizza transformation initially had an entirely different effect. It would have been a power up, that would make the player run at mach 4 instantly for about 15 seconds. However, the shadow under the letter C is missing, but only for the new frames, so due to this, that specific spot constantly flickers in the game, as it's only present for a single frame. (3/3)

It's especially noticeable with the arms only having shading next to the sleeve. Interestingly enough, the shading between fingers is just not filled in, leaving gaps in the sprite. Secondly, the text did in fact receive two extra boil frames, with the original variant intact. (2/3)

There are actually quite a few notable differences between the original "YOU SUCK!" image, compared to the one used in the game. Firstly, rather than using the original one and then adding two more boil frames, it was redrawn entirely, with cleaner outlines. (1/3) #PTWtrivia

The Steam page for the game showcases a fight with Pepperman, which actually depicts some pre-release footage. The bosses would always have 8 HP shown, with extra ones placed on top of them, which use a different color. This was likely scrapped as it would have spoiled the Phase 2. #PTWtrivia

PIZZA TOWER TRIVIA At one point in development, the backgrounds for the TV were meant to reuse the level gate ones, before they were changed to solid color. In some other clips, the scrolling was much faster, making it more distracting. This was likely removed as to reduce clutter. #PTWtrivia

Most of these level ideas have managed to get into the final game at least in some capacity, even if not as entire stages, such as Mansion or Kung Fu.

Pizza Tower Wiki @pizzatower.wiki · 24/02/2025

PIZZA TOWER TRIVIA At one point in development, McPig has considered making Act 2 for each level, akin to Sonic games, where the second act would reuse gimmicks, with the level assets recolored and another song used. This, however, never went anywhere, and was left as an one-off idea. #PTWtrivia

McPig's message in Pizza Tower Discord (Here named Noiblin) from April 18th, 2019:

Sewer --> Sewage garbage wasteland exterior
Factory --> industrial tunnels
Streets --> Sausage Restaurant
Freezer --> Frozen giant monsters
Hawaain Party --> Kung-fu training grounds
Moving Circus Tent --> Giant balloons in the sky
Space --> Eldritch cheese zone

Regarding archival development builds of Pizza Tower the wiki had previously linked to:

On December 16th, an archive of developmental Pizza Tower builds was taken down and replaced with an explanation written by the maintainer blaming McPig and Tour De Pizza for being anti-preservationist. We believe that these claims are unsubstantiated and instead stem from longtime personal disagreements and issues between the archive maintainer and Tour De Pizza. Furthermore, the archive maintainer has escalated to stalking and drawn-out harassment due to these disagreements.
We will be removing links on the wiki to the archive and will be searching for alternatives. We also ask that Tour De Pizza and the archive maintainer are not contacted over this issue.
Thank you.
