One of the reasons the Siriano brand is beloved is that he is an inclusive designer. He dresses fat women beautifully, he makes us look gorgeous and so many designers just refuse to acknowledge that we exist.

Pawb, I am happy to announce that if you strictly refuse to call a pub by its terrible new name and keep calling it the old one sometimes that works and they redo the signs. @sirsandgoblin.bsky.social has discovered that the Mochyn Du supremacy has been restored. May that pig be forever filthy.
A picture of the Mochyn Du pub in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The pub is a beautiful building surrounded by trees and shrubbery and an A-frame sign in the front saying Croeso yr y Mochyn Du. (for a while it was called something else that no-one ever bothered to remember what it was cos it was really generic when Mochyn Du is a great name that sticks).

Today we've got the Mansa Market with some seriously delicious food from Mami Maggi and beautiful hand-made gifts from Friends of Monze as well as brilliant films such as Baloji's Omen and a rare chance to see Mati Diop's Atlantics in the cinema. www.chapter.cymru/whats-on/wat...
Sheryl from Mami Maggi sits processing my order of Green Marinade and Tomato paste that she made last night. On the arall are shelves of sauces. A stall with beautiful hand made lion and tiger heads amongst other crafts with a sign saying "Zimbabwean crafts made with love". Ada and Souleiman embrace bathed in blue and green light in Mati Diop's beautiful film Atlantics. A man wearing a ritual mask stands with a bare chest and his arms outstretched in front of a dark mountain in Baloji's film Omen.

It feels unbelievable that we've lost Jeremy Thomas. So many of the films that are beloved to me, films that feel almost impossible that they have been made, only got to that stage through his enthusiasm and passion for the possibility of film and belief in art to transform. They transformed me.

I highly recommend going in the North Sea in the morning to get off your tits on nature. Just had my last banging breakfast in the Royal Hotel (whose staff are the loveliest I have ever encountered) and started work for the day. Am absolutely gutted to be leaving the gorgeous Whitley Bay.
A sandy beach with a few rocks hairy with seaweed with a freezing, slightly choppy North Sea in the distance.

The front of the Jam Jar Cinema Whitley Bay with a classic cinema front saying 'three screens / lounge bar - friendly' Interior space with a big mirror saying 'Welcome to the Movies' with a key light lamp. A front kiosk laden with treats and a couple of staff serving a big queue going out of the door.

I'm in Whitley Bay and it is absolutely lush. Was going to go for a quick walk before conference opening night drinks but got completely seduced and stayed paddling till it got dark. The North East is absolutely gorgeous.
A view from the beach in Whitley Bay looking north to St Mary's Lighthouse (which apparently is where the Lighthouse Family got their name (??). There are clouds with a patch of blue and the bright green seaweed-covered rocks are casting a shadow over the pale yellow sand.

I don't get emotional about celebrities passing very often but, oh! Sam Neill. He gave us some of the most wonderful performances but I've really enjoyed how much he's given of himself in his posts from the farm. Seeing his gentle kindness with animals has been a joy. We've lost a lovely man.

Lupita Nyong'o is simply a very beautiful woman, one of the most beautiful women in the world that is why she was cast as the world's most beautiful woman. The frothing bots on X are racist. Wtf is this headline?? (and no I'm not clicking on the article to read it, this is offensive bullshit)
Headline from New York Times "by casting Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy in his new film 'The Odyssey' Christopher Nolan is using Helen just as the Greek authors did: to provoke, challenge and discomfit how we think about beauty and identity' Daniel Mendelsohn writes. With a picture underneath where Lupita Nyong'o looks characteristically radiant like a goddess.

Despite everything people (me included) are saying about Labour, the absolutely amazing Shavannah Taj won a Senedd seat yesterday. She is genuinely one of the best people in Wales and she will work hard for making things better for people. Good things today to be hopeful for.
Campaign leaflet for Shavannah Taj with this statement:
'Union-led Community-rooted focused on results'
"I won't accept a Wales where people are left to struggle while others look the other way. I've stood with workers, fought for fair pay, and built safer workplaces - and I'll keep pushing until our communities have the secure homes, fair wages, and public services we deserve. I know what it's like to be in the fight - and what it takes to win."A photo of Shav's warm, smiling face wearing a navy top and necklace.

Paul Robeson, for those who don't know, didn't just sing like thunder was rumbling darkly in your soul and filling you with hope and joy; didn't just have unwavering belief in emancipation from capitalism and historical imperialism and the powers of community. He also looked llike this.
Paul Robeson young and smiling and in suit. Looking into your soul and saying "hey girl" probably. A slightly older Paul Robeson looking over his right shoulder at the camera smizing intently. An older Paul Robeson smiling with a huge, wicked grin and looking to his left, thinking about how socialism is going to emancipate the people.Paul Robeson looking broody and sweaty in a white linen shirt probably thinking about how evil the right wing government is.

Listening to the latest episode of @thisamericanlife.org and stunned that Americans don't seem to know about Paul Robeson. The Drama with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson is out today. A delicious treat which I really enjoyed. I have also been enjoying the narrative red carpet Zendaya and Law Roach have put together. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Perfection! (alt text for detail).
Zendaya in 4 red carpets: something old - a white Vivienne Westwood dress that she wore to the Oscars in 2015 and caused a stir because she has her hair in braids and dreds and some entertainment journo was racist about, it was her first international moment; something new - custom white Louis Vuitton with backless illusion and a huge black bow train; something borrowed - a Giorgio Armani Privé black dress which was borrowed from Cate Blanchett who wore it at the Venice premiere of Father Mother Sister Brother last year (including the accessories and 'borrowing' Cate's glam); something new - a Schiaparelli blue dress from its new collection with 65,000 silk feathers in different shades of blue with blue Tiffany earrings and rings and blue sparkly eyeshadow.

At uni I got an 82 for an essay on L'etrange by Albert Camus. I still remember the last line I wrote cos I thought it was very pretentious and I wouldn't get away with it. Can I remember the plot now, despite having seen the film? No. Time for a re-read Mr Camels!
