I think you’re right! Screenshot is from this Reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/geek/comme... Second pic is from cray-history.net/cray-history...

On a different note, I always wonder why they had benches on the sides. like some engineer would be tired and wants to sit down and take a break or something.

aharpole • 14y ago
The benches actually house the power supply/cooling, IIRC. Guess they figured while you're at it, may as well add a bench!

selfish • 14y ago
Yep, and because they're the cooling system, they're a nice warm bench for whoever needs it :)View of a CRAY X-MP without the covers

Next step in de-#adobe-fying my workflow. Good riddance! @adobe.com
Exit survey of Adobe Acrobat about why I decided to uninstall it. My reason was "other" -> "crap" with the following feedback for what's it worth: "You've turned Acrobat into a laggy piece of garbage and you know it. It has long ceased to be about the end user experience and more about what the C-suite thinks it can get away with. Rethink your life!"

Adobe Acrobat has become more or less useless for viewing PDF files: It takes ages to start, then a constant barrage of AI this and AI that pop ups; and the document view scrolls as smoothly as a sloppy ZX Spectrum port. Seriously, f that s! I'm now using Waterfox’s built-in viewer instead. #PDF
Screenshot of Acrobat with a document open but 2 thirst of the screen are oversized UI of "Generate presentation" "AI Assistant" "Summarize the key points" and similar shit.

#ThrowbackTuesday! I almost forget that 15 years ago I had a daily webcomic and most of it was terrible. But some panels almost hold up. Here you go! I got a few more of the better ones, let me know if I should post them 😅 #webcomic #funny #noAI
2 panel comic. 1st panel is a minimalist workplace situation with the boss saying "If I see you using Comic Sans again, I'll maroon you on a deserted island", employee responds "yeah, whatever."

2nd panel is them on a deserted island with the word "Help!" made out of coconuts in Comic Sans. A helicopter passes above with the response "ew!" 1 panel comic. A bunny and a snowman both chomp on a carrot each, behind them in the distance is a dead snowman on its side. Another snowman (without carrot for a nose) in front is horrified at the sight of the two munching carrots. Caption reads "Assisted cannibalism"1 panel comic of the Star Trek Next Generation bridge crew. Data looks befuddles as Picard says sternly: "No Mr. Data! I refuse calling you "Honeycomb" as I refused to call you "Gingerbread" before!". Worf has a ? over his head, Riker snickers to himself1 panel comic of Alan Wake at the edge of a cliff, a coffee thermos next to him, he's holding many more. In front is the silhouette of a hand with a sickle. Alan says "Nobody can stop me from getting my coffee!". The caption reads: "Coffee may cause risks to your health" starring Alan Wake

Don’t assume a series (of rooms, of entities) will adhere to a perceived pattern or rule and never base your decisions on what you might take for a logical continuation of a chain or array.
Instead, develop an nurture a “thalamic” mindset, that the reasoning, planning, an plotting happening in your neocortex always gets evaluated against the actual stimuli that pass through the nuclei in your brain’s thalamus. Trust only what you can see, hear, feel, or smell3 in any given situation, not what you reason and conclude from them. Excerpt of a book I am writing (yes, really!). How do you like it? (Transcript in alt text) #writer #liminal #fiction
Developing a "thalamic" mindset is key to survival within a space that withholds meaning, logic, and predictability. Find strength in what you can perceive in the present moment. Do not dwell on the past, however recent, as it is gone and nothing can be learned from it.
Distrust patterns; there are none despite seemingly evident occurrences; stay calm and do not run or unnecessarily exhaust yourself - you want to stay alive for as long as you can.
Do not socialize or trust entities you encounter - they might not be what they seem.
When you come across drinkables or edibles, consume as much as possible, you can't know when you get the next chance.
Don't try to linger - always be moving and be observant of your surroundings.

Twitch streamers: As you might know, Amazon is planning to use our streams for AI training. If you are against that, make ypur voice heard by voting to get the option to opt out (best we got) #twitch #streamer #streaming twitch.uservoice.com/forums/92338...

Make all AI features optional, and opt-out by default.

For any features on Twitch which use AI, allow all creators to opt in or opt out of them individually, and set the default to Opt Out for all new AI features. We as creators should have the choice whether to use AI or not on our channels. If we do not want to use it at all, it's important for us to be able to have that choice, AND for us not to be opted in by default.
