Not going to lie I'm tempted to make a sticker out of that quote.

How mentally unstable do you have to be to do that?

Also Police dogs aren't locked in a cage waiting to be released. They live relatively normal lives off duty. Currently looking to get my dog trained in protection because I've already had a few attempted break ins this year.

But I assume you don't live in a Meth crazed neighbourhood with Bikey gangs right. A female officer was stabbed in the neck by a guy off his tits on ice not too far from me. Not to mention security guards getting attacked at train stations.

Pixel_hotaru @pixelhotaru.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

you don't train dogs to bite, they already have the instinct to do so. It's more redirecting that energy to something more constructive. Dogs can bite without breaking the skin you know. There's also muzzled take downs involving a hell of a headbutt.

Pixel_hotaru @pixelhotaru.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Dog's can bite and nip without piercing skin. How do you think heelers and kelpies heard cattle? The nip at the ankles. I take it you've never play wrestled with your dog? They are aware of how much force to use.

They're not trained to kill. They're trained to tackle and bite the forearm and hold you down until law enforcement catches up.

Pixel_hotaru @pixelhotaru.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

It's all in the breed and genetics. Some dogs don't make it all the way through training because they don't have the drive for it. You can't really force a dog to do something it doesn't want to do. Not all dogs make good family pets. Some dogs need to work.

yeah mine doesn't have the instinct hold on but she's got a mean head butt.

Pixel_hotaru @pixelhotaru.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

They're not trained to maul. They're trained to latch on to an arm and hold on until told to let go. Yes dogs can mistakes even well trained ones will, but they don't maul. Working line dogs need jobs or they go nuts with boredom.

Pixel_hotaru @pixelhotaru.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Ever met a Belgium Malinoi? Their first instinct is to bite. Police dogs are used for a variety of tasks, such as drug detection and tracking. A well trained police dog is trained to take down a perp, not maul them. They latch onto the arm and hold on until told to let go.

It doesn't matter what we do even if everyone on the planet went on a plant based diet (which is impossible by the way) we'd still be contributing to deforestation. Don't get me started on Vegan leather and faux fir, it's plastic garbage.

Failed to mention the article sites a study done 2010. The data is 15 years old. Do you know how many animals die to produce crops on a commercial level? So many animals have been displaced from deforestation in order to make room for crops.

This is same mentality as not wanting to label food properly because if you knew what was in it you might not buy it. Which incidentally was a huge problem at the turn of the previous century ...
