Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 03/10/2026When you're getting swarmed by enemies, the run around screaming and flinging yourself around trying not to die is incredibly fun. 🤣 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 03/10/2026#NZGDC was really inspirational. Starting to make plans for messing around with my engine of choice that will lead to a bigger project and whatnot. Blah blah blah vague stuff. The real big question is going to be whether to mess with 2D or 3D for the first real project... 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026Just got to play a demo of this and talk to the devs, it was a lot of fun. Movement is fantastic and it’s fun to just fling yourself around 🤣 #NZGDC store.steampowered.com/app/2590750/...store.steampowered.comCosmorons on SteamThe Overlord demands you Conquer the Universe! Grab your friends in a 1-4 co-op roguelite shooter and deploy as grappling robot Drudges. Battle the alien swarms, complete missions and destroy the Cosm... 121
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026There’s probably some good Skinner pun opportunities out there too 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026First panel for the day! Lessons from making physical games. 120
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026Imposter Syndrome Round 2! Riding the bus system here in Auckland for the first time down to #NZGDC for Day 2. Full slate of panels and presentations for today. Got a couple breaks to sneak in and play some stuff being shown off. 020
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026And the Dog Shampoo slide was amazing and greatly appreciated. 🤣 110
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026Great job with the talk today! I really enjoyed it and a lot of the stuff was really useful. Thanks! 111
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 01/10/2026Fought through imposter syndrome at the opening day of the New Zealand Game Developer’s Conference. It began with an amazing pōwhiri and keynote. Went to a couple of great presentations. And saw a bunch of great looking games I cannot wait to get my hands on over the next couple days. 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 22/09/2026I'm not sure it's something I'll mess with, it just seemed like an interesting idea. I'm not sure something like SyncTERM that would work over LoRa. I don't have nearly enough experience with Meshtastic. It's one of those things on the "it'd be cool to mess with" lists 🤣 120
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 21/09/2026Fun trivia thing about Ministry... Tommy Victor (of Prong fame) played guitar for them for a while. That era of albums where their guitar tone went from sounding like tinny fried assholes to actual heavy guitars? Rio Grande Blood - Relapse. Tommy Victor. 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 21/09/2026Ugh. Why does the mess and clutter always sneak up on you? 🤣 So I've got some progress on a couple projects to make this week, but the primary focus right now is getting my office cleaned up and re-arranged so I can actually use more than just my computer here 😂 Time to get started... woo? 110
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 14/09/2026So weird idea. Is it possible to hook something like a BBS up to LORA stuff and getting access to it over something like Meshtastic? Because MysticBBS + Meshtastic sounds kind of amazing... 351
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 14/09/2026Is it just me, or do you also remember that JK Rowling decided to publish under said name because they didn't want people to know they were a female writer? 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 14/09/2026I will be entirely honest here and say I don't know. That's way more in the weeds than I have been thinking about any of this. 'm mostly just looking to replace the default menus and stuff to potentially help give things its own flavor. I'm not sure what what will end up looking like. 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026Probably leaning a bit in the cyberpunk/synthwave direction/ inspiration. As for niche with the board itself I haven’t decided yet? My personal interests are in gaming (indie and retro focused), text-based multiplayer games, music, TTRPGs, cats, etc 🤣 so haven’t thought of a specific focus to fill? 140
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026I'm looking to build out an overall theme at the moment, so yeah. Main logo, headers, title screens. Not so much full ANSI art screens. But I'm trying to figure out the look and feel. 120
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026I'm hoping to have it online and stuff soon, really in the early stages here, but I know I want something not stock as far as splash art and menus and stuff. I'm planning to work with MysticBBS at the moment and see where things go from there. 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026I'm not sure of the full details of the work yet. I'm just kind of getting things off of the ground and set up. The only real ideas I have are something of a base for a color palette and that I'm planning on trying to use MysticBBS as the base platform, if that helps? 110
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026Sorry it took so long to respond. Probably a more classic early 90s look. I don't have a visual style or theme in mind for the splash and menus. I am still in the process of getting everything set up and running, so it's a work in progress. 100
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/09/2026Sorry it has taken me so long to get back about this. I don't have a theme yet. I do kind of have a color palette in mind, but I'm still in the process of getting everything up and running. 110
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 04/09/2026hey @hypernode.bsky.social - Any thoughts on where to potentially find an ascii/ansi artist to do artwork for splash screens and menus for a BBS (probably Mystic)? 591
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 04/09/2026I can’t stand that stuff either. Even through a player-centric lens. Blurry stuff makes the game look halfassed, especially once it suddenly becomes “crystal clear” and perfectly rendered. My brain immediately asks why the engine shat the bed so hard for those seconds. 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 04/09/2026As someone who was born in North America, one of the only downsides of moving to New Zealand is the lack of access to good Mexican food or a large number of the ingredients necessary to do it your damn self. But hey, there’s Old El Paso 😂🤣 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 04/09/2026This is especially eyerollingly funny because Hegseth has a program to provide gender-affirming care to soldiers because they aren't producing enough testosterone... sad little beta soy boys 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 04/09/2026I am! Things have been a little crazy. But when isn't it? Apparently there was also some weird stuff going on with Bluesky. So who knows! 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 05/08/2026Wow. I can't wait to see the reaction from Conservatives and Veterans. There will be a reaction, right? Right? ...right? 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/07/2026Even worse when you consider they were doing the exact thing Xbox is saying they’re trying to build toward - building in-house tools and working in a cohesive effort with other studios under the company’s umbrella. It’s stupid. Makes me want nothing to do with Microsoft/XBox. 040
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 09/07/2026It's fucking sad to be friends with the offspring of people I grew up with on social media, and watch them spouting a bunch of bullshit that falls in line with the shitty right wing talking points. I think I'm going to start taking bets on how long it's going to take him to block me. 🤔 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 08/07/2026There's a reason Elon is scared of the $sub-25k Chinese EVs. 020
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 08/07/2026Woo! Just booked my tickets for #NZGDC in October! I miss the first little half day, and I doubt I'll be able to attend any of the after hours stuff this year. But it's a step forward. 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 25/05/2026I just finished Between Horizons by @digitalesgames.bsky.social beautiful game. I highly recommend it. It's definitely got the creative juices flowing. I wish there were more stories on the Zephyr. 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/05/2026It's funny to me how so much Alien Contact SciFi is drenched in the whole idea that their technology is so vastly superior to humanities. It's hard to imagine anything breaking physics enough to stop something like a super-sonic projectile. 010
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 10/05/2026Warfighter is a term you *MIGHT* hear someone around special forces say, but I doubt it. You're more likely to hear Operator. This dude is such a fucking cringe factory. 110
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 05/05/2026Hmm. I always figured they were following the same philosophies as Starbucks. It's about the name and the value people associate with the name. They get away with it "because they're Nintendo" - people roll their eyes and put up with it. And then they roll out a new Mario game and it's PSL season. 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 13/03/2026It is an under-served exploration in the content creation market. Getting interchangeable lenses on a video camera is way more expensive than a DSLR/Mirrorless. I don't think most people do much lens swapping though. Once someone finds the look they want, they don't seem to mess with it much. 000
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 13/03/2026I am often accused of being an enabler. And I happily accept the mantle. 💜 100
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 13/03/2026Had a conversation the other day that I think is interesting: Do you think a slow-burn, quasi-free-form, puzzle game like The 7th Guest or Myst would be able to succeed in today's gaming market? Could an audience spend weeks on a single puzzle? Or would it be ruined by guides and walkthroughs? 001
Chop the Viking @pixelheim.com · 07/03/2026It's weird that the best, most advanced military in the world with the best, cutting-edge technology at the forefront of their arsenal cannot manage to keep themselves from blowing up a school full of kids... much less four of them. 000
