Was happy with how this little design turned out! Chute to fill a machine with components for assembly. Machine has to be interlocked for safety, and this lets the operator add more product without interrupting the process.

Recently been working on a new machine, about 90% done with design. We're doing automated contact insertion on mil-spec connectors. Bulk pins/sockets get put in the chutes at the back, get sorted, picked, and inserted into the desired locations on connectors that are staged in the trays up front.

Took the time this week to make a little box for my toolmaker's flat. I picked up a board of curly maple and fixtured pieces with masking tape and CA glue. Never tried that method before, was surprised by how strong it was! Really happy with how it turned out!

Fixturing with tape and glue. Masking tape is applied to a random aluminum plate, and to the bottom of the workpiece. CA glue is applied to the non-adhesive side of the tape and both are stuck together. This avoids any marring or damage to the workpiece, and allows me to mill around the full perimeter unobstructed.

Both halves are the same part, and fit together pretty well

Had a little bit of blowout during the surfacing operation, but it adds some character. I'll mix some glue and sawdust to fill that in later for final fit and finish.

So! Adjusting the coils with a little screwdriver until they resonated back in spec was the fix. Normally this issue presents itself as a whole row or column of numbers not working, not just ONE, but it was a weird edge case...

So why can the computer on the other end understand my "3" tone but my own telephone adapter can't? After much troubleshooting, it turns out that one of the two frequencies played for that button press was ~20hz lower than the expected 697hz. Weirdly, that ~670hz was acceptable for other numbers

So, all my upset towards this shitty at&t router was in vain, it was not responsible for fucking with my VOIP packets but rather a much weirder edge case within the phone itself All the numbers on the keypad worked and made their signature DTMF tones as expected...
