I should've kept more of the WIPs of this, but I whipped up this pose using a reference and decided to try shading in an unrealistic, but visually pleasing way. It basically implies there's a light source hanging directly between her legs, but I think it reads really well anyway. About 45 minutes!

Another example of how I tend to make new duplicate frames in order to play around with ideas and refine stuff. It's fun and makes the process of making big changes less stressful. I wanted to turn the standalone butt into a proper full-body animation base for later, and this is how it's going.

4 frames of some primo goblin ass: 1 without legs, 1 with my first attempt at legs, 1 with some refined shading, and the final with better leg positioning and fixes to the slightly shifted perspective on the butt. It came out extremely heart-shaped.

Just to give an impression of how many little tweaks and changes I tend to make when creating even these small, simple little sprites. I always duplicate a frame to make sure I can easily look at, and revert, changes before making a decision. There's a ton more on the cutting room floor, too.

5 different takes on the goblin dancer, each one changing poses or proportions. The raised arm pose ended up being too stiff and kinda looks like she's throwing out a heil, so I changed that to her holding a tambourine in a ready position like a weapon in the final take.

WIP update but I'm happy with it. Just thought "hey what if I turn up every color's brightness and turned down the saturation and layered it over them one-by-one, would it make a light ray effect?" And it did! So that felt pretty cool.

This was the first mock-up I made for the game, a character select screen for the various goblins. 4 boys 4 girls, 1 for each "class" specializing in a stat. Game dev is wild magic so who knows if any of this will stay! If it does, though, the final version would have big, cool face sprites.
