Every year thousands of Chinook migrate up rivers from Lake Ontario (they treat it like their “ocean”) and compete, choose and spawn and then die (called semelparity). We are studying this imminent mortality using gene expression and transcriptomics

Great to have the first year @ibiouwindsor.bsky.social class (BIOL1111 - Biodiversity) visit the Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre to learn first hand about research regarding restoring habitat and species at risk fishes - students enjoyed the hands on experience at the end of the year
