(and not sure if anyone has actually taken advantage of that ruling yet - not so relevant to me running an older phone that's also outside the EU)

I'm aware of the Chromium dominance on desktop, but, and just double checked this, on iOS all the browsers are forced to use Safari's Webkit engine under the hood. Exception is in the EU, where they were made to open that up, and that's only within the past few years.

Yeah me too. Will hold on to this until I absolutely have to. Re: other browsers, I was under the impression all the other browsers on iphone were still safari under the hood, so hadn't considered. Worth looking into though.

Aside from those already mentioned, one of my favourites to do it, Toby Dixon, released Morsels last year. Really beautiful and singular style. The pixels are his best work yet. Check it out if you missed it!

Nay, performing as intended!

Love it when you game over and the game just immediately quits and boots you back to DOS. This is correct.

Me too! I’m faintly aware that people are creating custom campaigns using FRUE, and that many of those also hack the game in various ways. I can only assume that also includes graphics. Have to look into it.

My other comment prolly made it misleading, but this is actually Pool of Radiance, the first in the DnD Gold Box series! (I love Wizardry too, though)

I got a bit into Wizardry not long ago too. Love this era. My favourite parts are all the things that would never survive a typical modern game design pass. Resting in a inn in Pool heals 1HP per 24 hours. Pickpockets will straight up steal your shit in taverns. Coins weigh you down.

Trying to hold back my opinions until I've actually played through the whole game, but this experience has definitely made my relationship with the game a bi~t more complicated. (That's how things should be, though, when re-engaging with works experienced during childhood)

This is one of my foundational games, buried deep into my soul. But, it's the first time I've played it in probably 20 years, and the first time I've played it while reading every little bit of accompanying text in the adventurer's journal/manual.

I manually rolled my characters using AD&D 1e rules, because I like rolling die. Probably should have used a full hit die for level 1 though; my fighters are a bit too flimsy. It looks like the in-game generation uses at least a little over half of the first hit die when rolling.

Actually, I lied. The first party wipe (kinda) was getting caught in a tavern brawl before I had bought any equipment. It was non-lethal tho and just came out of it with fully unconscious party.

I booted up Pool of Radiance last night for some sick dungeon crawling. First party wipe: accidentally targeted my own party with sleep (hit target instead of manual). Helplessly slaughtered by kobolds.

Pros to being sick: my partner made the most amazing chicken soup the other day, and today she made a high-powered shin ramyun w/ additional egg & veges. *blessed*

My body amazingly held it together to complete a move to a new apartment last week, all while catching the flu. It's all fallen to bits now that I gave myself an opportunity to relax. I've been knocked out for days now.

Added slopes and ground variations to the previous test and also extended the map a bit. Next will be plants, trees and maybe some sprites. #pixelartㅤㅤ
Work in progress isometric pixelart tileset. Now with slopes and more ground variations.

My cousin is shaving his head as part of a fund-raiser to support those impacted by blood cancer here in New Zealand. If anyone is in a position to contribute, please consider donating! He's a great young dude (you should see his drawings, he's outta control). www.shaveforacure.co.nz/s/1666/3350/t

44 tiles so far (x5 including the animation frames). Only two interior tiles atm though, the rest is all coast. The main pattern is a 15 tile pattern I often find useful that cuts the single-tile-width segments out of the standard 47 blob set (so water has to be at least 2 tiles wide, I'm afraid).

Water...! Five frame loop. Migraine-inducing nightmare to draw, massive regrets halfway through. Next: rivers (and associated features), lakes?, and some impassable rocky coast/ocean tiles.

One stand out for me watching this was finding out about the awesome box art for the SuperGrafx port. Illustrated by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, the character designer of the original Mobile Suit Gundam!

It's an hour + talk, but it zoomed by for me while working. I do want to draw attention to the ~1 hr mark, where the freshwater ecologist rattles off some of the current damage being done. Knew it was bad, but didn't know it was that bad.

I don't expect this to be of interest to most following me here, but for those in New Zealand: A good talk about what's going on with agriculture here and a little about the challenge of rolling back the intensification (against all the invested interests). youtu.be/oMhYmACoWCA?...

I'm always scanning each axis like this when mapping, and implemented a rule very similar to this in code not long ago, haha. Just making sure tile doesn't repeat on either axis within the space of the game window. (may have been other ad hoc rules, can't remember)

I basically grew up in the RPGMaker scene way back, but my memory is blurry! I can think of a few rules that might fit that title. A side note: it warms my heart when I think of all the enthusiastic creators talking about and formalising their practices in a hobby space. Was fun.

A fun parallel between building tile maps and pixel-ing: the way you might offset a couple pixel clusters so their edges don't line up (to avoid drawing attention to the pixel grid aka banding) works the exact same way on the tile level when using multiple-tile segments. It's cluster inception.
