It's worth noting that the "AI" features you can't opt out of aren't generative AI. It's things like auto-mod, speech recognition for captions and the "clip that" feature. AI isn't inherently bad, it's the generative AI and LLMs that are deeply problematic.

The gaming space is plagued by microtransactions and pay-to-win, so it's refreshing when the cash shop options are truly optional and there are free alternatives that anyone can get (assuming rng cooperates).

I know people get upset about "it's just dyeable gear that is already in game!" But it's nice that cash shop stuff is optional. It's there for people who have an alt or don't want to spam a dungeon trying to get a piece.

Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.

I think the gravity of it may have flown over people's heads or they just didn't care but as a parent, that was the absolute most triggering thing i've ever witnessed in any Final Fantasy game, or video game at all.

The song itself is so very different from the light-hearted Ihuykatumu theme and the epic Workor Zormor theme. It's beautiful but haunting and sorrowful. It drives home the first indication that the Golden City isn't what we were led to believe: the gateway is hidden behind a mass grave.
