I took this back in May, it has grown on me since. Olympus OM-D E-M10 | Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 #Bloomscrolling #Florespondence #SilentSunday #VintageLens
A photograph of meadow buttercups. There are multiple yellow flower heads in the shot against an out of focus green grassy background, which ever so slightly impressionist in quality, most of the buttercups are out of focus, especially the ones towards the top left. The only one totally in focus is at the bottom centre, it has bright yellow and shiny petals with a matte yellow centre disc which has a slightly green core to it.

Quite like this one, I'd swear they've gotten used to me pointing the camera at them. #SilentSunday #BirdsOfMastodon #MuteSwan
A photograph of a mute swan. The swan is standing in the middle of the frame against a lush expanse of very green grass. It's facing head-on towards the camera with its head slightly canted towards the left as if posing for the shot. A yellow tag can be seen on the swan's left leg (right-hand side of the image).

I see I'm not alone in thinking this constituted von der Leyen flying a kite. #EUpol #CDNpoli www.euractiv.com/news/dr-von-der-le…
Carney lent a scholarly, even monastic air to proceedings, sitting patiently behind von der Leyen, taking extensive notes, and ocasionally lifting his clasped hands towards her, as if in prayer.

His presence also gave von der Leyen an excuse to announce something that took everyone by surprise – including, apparently, Carney himself – “associate membership“.

That this vague promise – “a love letter”, as another MEP termed it – became the speech’s main headline indicated how little else broke new ground.

What on earth would "Associate Membership" mean when that isn't in the treaties. I doubt there is the appetite to go for treaty renegotiation, can of worms that it is, so to what degree is this all just PR guff from von der Leyen? #EUpol #CDNpoli […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
The 27-member EU has never had an associate membership category, although it has close ties with Norway, Iceland and Switzerland, allowing deep economic integration with these countries, who follow many EU rules. It remains to be seen what associate membership means, including for Canada’s relationship with the EU single market.

A photograph of flowers of indeterminate variety (well to me at any rate), on the left there are a clump of yellowish-white flowers with yellow centre discs (common to all the flowers). From the centre and moving rightward is a mixture of large yellow flowers with several red flowers dotted amongst them. Underneath all these flower heads are plenty of dull green leaves.

A problem of the "others" the world over. www.womenwritethebalkans.com/essays… #IEpol #NIpol #UKpol #BApol
Set against this horrifying practice, other examples of forced conformity with one’s imposed classification can feel rather churlish to complain about by comparison. But they do nevertheless follow a similar pattern. In Bosnia, for instance, each “constituent people” is closely associated with a particular religious denomination; not being religious is thus a surefire way to have the authenticity of your ethnic identity called into doubt. In an astonishing statistic revealed in the most recent Bosnian census in 2013, the Ostali make up less than 3% of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s overall population, but nearly 60% of its atheists and agnostics.

The centre of the image contains a man in a mac walking away from the building towards the camera. The glass is awash with reflections, many of which are being cast by the oak tree, but of note is that the man is reflected in not one but two panes of the glass wall. The bottom of the image contains wet paving, there are reflections of the oak tree towards the lower right-hand side in said paving.

#Mosstodon
Photo of a bed of moss underneath a small tree. The base of the tree trunk is visible in the top right corner. In the bottom left corner is a collection of brown dead leaves. The moss has leaves and twigs dotted in several places on its surface, particularly towards the right-hand side. There is the shadow of railings being cast over most of the photo.
