Oh that’s interesting, now that some newer brands have seen a lot of success embracing more premium minimalism in their products/stores, that might be translating to premium brands on the web too 🤔

An open-spec recommendations / expert-id system would make algorithmic ranking for trustworthiness using pay to win / SEO spam so much harder if search was re-aligned to make use of it. Loved the ideas in this talk.

With all the innovation happening around ATProto at the moment I’m excited by the backlinks / comments concepts, already seeing comment sections via Bluesky scripts pop up on npm. Amazing talk, thanks!

It’s one of those days

I use the mute settings for this, you can mute words for a fixed time (up to 30 days) or forever 🙌

Artist vs Art
A photo of me. I have short brown hair parted to the left and oversized nerdy glasses. I am wearing a black shirt.A sample from a graphic design project I worked on while at university. The background is a deep orange with off white lettering and typographic symbols arranged to accentuate the natural forms of the typeface. The piece acts heads the upper two thirds of a page featuring the second half of an essay on the typeface.

The font used is EB Garamond, which is open source. The symbols for 4, 5, 6, and 7 are merged together along with a flourish to create a visually interesting effect.

The page features a quote from the typeface’s original designer: “The art I practice is but a small thing” - Claude Garamont, 1545

Design and tech twitter acolyte, I barely ever posted but keeping up with everyone, liking stuff and sharing articles / insights offline was my shy-kid way of being part of the scene. Feel free to follow me back, I’m making more effort to avoid just hitting “like” here 😅

Had a go at working with the Bluesky API, It's a little rough around the edges especially with OneOf types and quirkyness with embeds I still need to understand, but it didn't take long to get going with it. It's been ages since social media was this open 😊

Got an update 🙌 I have a hacky version working using IFTTT to read an RSS feed generated on-demand with an api route in next.js. It logs in with an app password, gathers all of the account's likes, and then formats and outputs them to XML. Still tweaking the script but... it's something 😁

Great points here. There was a really fun talk at ServerlessDays Cardiff this year from Sarah Hamilton and @lukehedger.bsky.social that went over a similar theme; bugs are inevitable, so putting an emphasis on observability to catch those bugs and fix them is worth more long term than 100% coverage.

💯 sometimes the best way out for me without making things worse is to just stash the work, reset back to a good commit, and apply the stash. Resolving issues with arcane git magic isn’t worth the hassle, conflicts, etc when there’s work to get done 🫠

To me that's the perfect use case for linting rules; especially in a big PR things like that can get missed so easily, nice :D

Yeah same, I haven't had to worry about email clients for a few years and I'd resigned myself to thinking the status quo of arbitrary workarounds and client-specific styles would hold forever 😂 I hope these changes don't add too much overhead and help to encourage other clients to get up to date

Picked this up last year after seeing a friend’s and I’ve hooked up it for volume/fast scrolling through code/long pages. I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface of what it can do yet 😅

The “Quiet Posters” one is awesome, I don’t always want to see “what’s hot/popular” and so far it’s super personal and fun stuff that feels way less like the classic social media wall of sound bsky.app/profile/did:...

This looks really similar to the cloudflare / vercel versions: github.com/KiwiKilian/e... You specify the template in code, then pass in the props like title or description using the shortcode. I’ve not used 11ty myself yet but looks really fun to hack around with :)

What framework / platform are you using? There are plugins for most of the major frameworks that let you submit or include the text, images, or colours and once it’s generated it’s usually cached or saved to a static folder/cdn. If you’re hand-making a static site, you can still use a worker too

Been using the remarkable 2 for a few years now, it’s a great device but wish it had slightly more going for it. I want to read feeds / news etc without having to email myself snapshots of pages and that sort of thing. It’s outstanding for note-taking though, I barely ever use paper anymore
