It's always been hype. Every time they say "our AI agent went rogue and did a thing", they are describing a computer program that didn't work the way they wanted, not a sentient monster that decided to run amok. AI is just a new computer program, but saying that doesn't raise billions of dollars.

This post is interesting because you didn't tell people how to agree with you and there is no in-group norm. So the responses are all over the place: "Exactly! It should be on the coffee table! -in a box in the attic! -lashed to the dog!"

Maybe Starmer could counsel Zelenskyy on the folly of making late substitutions when defending against an old enemy.

I am sure you are right, and they are never going to kill such a lucrative franchise. You can live in hope though.

I’ve thought this for years. Kill it or make it retro.

Also, Mercs are fussy and the parts are expensive. A 70s VW beetle is much more fun to work on, parts are everywhere, most still in production, the engineering is lovely, and they turn more heads than any modern car.

If you love tinkering with old machines, have off-street parking where you can work on it, and can afford all the parts and tools you'll need, a classic car can be a viable daily driver. If that's not you, save yourself the grief and get a used Honda.

Polling is cool and all, but I don't think the general public is necessarily a good judge of complex international economic issues. This sort of polling is why Hugh Grant recklessly plunged the UK economy into a years-long depression in Love Actually.

Posh umbrellas are like fancy wine glasses. Only buy them if you can afford to replace them frequently.

I agree with your observation about vocational work, but note that £500k would be a lot by US standards. The President's salary is $400k (£300k).
