If we are talking federal policy, neither party is really offering any real solutions that have a chance to get through a future Congress. They both run on "I'm not the other party" and the cycle of shit continues

You made the accountant snort. Here, have a follow.

At the very very least we need to know precisely what a pardon is for so that the president has to at least deal with the political implications. For ex, with Biden/Fauci, we don't even know what he was pardoned for. That's horseshit. I need details or in my view it's not a pardon.

Has it been tested in court that preemptive blanket pardons count as pardons? Seems like you at least need a stated crime for a pardon to exist (and preferably a charge and verdict). Pardons should be retroactive and not prospective since it creates an immune class of citizens (friends of potus)

GOP has been dead to me for over a decade now. In that decade+, I've seen nothing but Democrats trying to lose elections and not take advantage of the GOP's suicide attempt. Would be swell if I had a party to vote for who is interested in winning and directing policy at the national level.

Be not Trump. Be normal (same same). Promise not to support expensive cost of living policies like tarrifs and war. The republicans have to be weird and support Don and his expensive politics bc they are pot committed to it. Focus on that and that only and enjoy winning.

Meanwhile, republicans will make space for anyone outside of that fairly tight, but election influencing, democrat world. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but one is certainly better for winning elections.

Have you seen that recent study that shows democrats have a tighter ideology than republicans (which is all over the place)? That's why. When you don't fit neatly in the historical ideology of "democrats", you get ejected from the party or, from an outsider perspective, can't rationalize a vote.

No I'm saying it wouldn't matter if a senator left his seat to be POTUS and his former seat flipped parties. POTUS veto power (+VP tie break) is far greater legislative power than a 1 seat loss. Maybe I misunderstood the discussion here?

If he were president and had veto power, yes.

Him getting attention this early in his career says more about Dem bench depth than it does him being an electable candidate. He shows great potential. But if he's the guy in 2028 it's a Hail Mary attempt. I do like him though.

Dems would rather apply purity tests, lose elections, and then cry about how terrible the republican victors are. Republicans let fear of change or whatever social grievance is popular take them to the ballot box consistently regardless of what batshit crazy candidate fell out of the primary.

Systems and institutions are only as good as the inputs to it. Nothing but bullies and cowards are running the show. No system will stop it until enough cowards find their spines.

Either the man is dumb and has constantly fallen upward to a seat in the highest court or he's intellectually dishonest and finding a means to an end. Yay.

Swing voters rely on group messaging and identity. Republicans roll out strong centralized messaging and demonize Dems. Dems don't have a centralized response to counter and fight themselves instead (gestures to this app this AM). Swing voters get spooked. Vote R and we get 2 Trump terms. Yay.

CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Democrat party is more in tune with what their constituents want district by district. That's a good thing for district politics and serving unique constituents. Downside is the variability doesn't work for national politics sensitive to swing voters.

CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
...but don't be surprised when republicans force the bogeyman version of dem socialism on the party nationally, swing voters get confused, and they go right back to comfy tax land and less change. Dumb people swing elections. Dems are bad at countering how republicans manipulate dumb people.
000
CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Right. As such, they are easily swayed and spooked. In a world of noise, they end up rationalizing, "well, I guess I'll go for low taxes" and that's that. Now, I'm not arguing that NYC left districts should care at all. They have to find people that best rep their unique district needs...

CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Have you met swing voters?
200
CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Should that matter for NY citizens? Nope. But it's a challenge that Dem leaders don't know how to control at the national level. Feels like outlier republicans don't cause as much problems for republicans in other states. Is that a party problem or voter problem? I'm not sure.
110
CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Sad, but true. In the ideal republic we let NY be NY and the WI voter couldn't care less. In the real world, WI voters see what's happening in a big money high population district in NY and say "is this what they ultimately want for me?" and let it influence their local vote.
210
CK @pintah.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Correct. Even if they are disciplined from within, Republicans will toss out raw meat and the normies will be frighted right back to "welp, at least I get lower taxes voting this way" land in a quickness.

Probably going to discolor the perimeter of the new liner with there being no circulation in that pool. That's too much peroxide concentrated in water that's not moving.

The Abrahamic religious denominations (aside from Mormons) believe that God is incorporeal. God doesn't have a penis or vagina. Any reference to He, Him, and Father are simply humans' preferred pronouns and references for something we can't imagine or understand.

Well, he's a Democrat in a state they should objectively flip the seat in. Of course he will make it as difficult as possible to get the seat. Democrats aren't good at winning.

It's "our" fault. We elected the cowards that dismantled it actively and passively. Then reelected them. The papered up system is still admirable. But all system outputs are only as good as the inputs and we loaded it up with morons and chaos agents.
