Been brainstorming a villain for future volumes. Also working with colored pen a bit.
An image of a robot horse torso. It appears like a cyborg with its skull encased in a plexiglass helmet. Barely visible wires and a speaker hide behind the bones as orange lights appear from its sockets. It's torso and arms are covered in a garbage bag-like material that hides the half-a-horse's mechanical innards; the robot horse's spinal column dangles with a plug at the end as if acting like its tail. A neon green filament emerges from the portions where its mane would be. Image of the robot horse torso attached to a crane-like apparatus as it taps at the keyboards of (incomplete) computers. Close-up of the robot horse's face as its eyes and filaments show the only semblance of emotion (in this case irritation). It's mane stands on end in diagonal points while its eyes jut-inward.

Well, I got a new pile of stickers available in @sourcherrycomics.bsky.social thanks to the work of @stickerninja.bsky.social for purchase! Each one helps donate to the staff's friends who are still besieged, so every purchase counts!
A pile of stickers depicting a god-sized dark-skinned hand smashing-down on a non-descript data center. The impact is creating a big, red inverted star along with a blue shockwave, sparks and debris from shattered infrastructure. Two other piles of stickers are in the shot as well as a cute (though ominous) table cloth of various cats. The firey caption over it reads 'Dismantle All Data Centers'.A wider shot of the anti-data center sticker along with stickers from the same artist (moi) including 'Stand Your Ground' and 'No Room for AI'.

Due to growing weekly life obstacles, I've been consistently delaying work on Issue 5 and posts. To rectify that, I've been playing Dress-Up Doodle with Extinction Gear's hero, Lt. Avlar. Here, he dresses as probably the snazziest of Far Cry 2's playable mercenaries, Hakim Ecchebi. Enjoy!
A pen-drawing of Lt. Deilas Avlar, hero of the indie comic series Extinction Gear, dressed and slightly posing as former Lt. Commander Hakim Ecchebi, one of nine playable mercenaries from the game Far Cry 2. The pose is slightly altered from the original since Deilas is looking more to one side as opposed to upward past whomever took the photo, but the attire is identical: light jacket, a button-up shirt with both sleeves rolled-up, a snig T-shirt underneath, an ammo belt, pants and two belts (one for a handgun holster). The major difference are the species and the tentacles that come with.An action-focused pen drawing of Deilas in Hakim's outfit from before, but welding a (poorly drawn) LMG while his tentacles handle additional tools. The right hind tentacle is whipping-out a revolver while the left is readying the previously strapped ammo belt. It's important to note the slight size difference in comparison to human-made weapons to the alien character: both weapons are just slightly smaller than what Deilas' people are used to. Further differences from before reveal Deilas' ear-scars in the angle, poor attempt at shading on his right arm to indicate illumination of muzzle-flash, a bulging neck vein and the missing holster belt (because I doodled this in a hurry).

So an issue I run into while drawing EG is one of battle-damage continuity: remembering the kind of dents and shrapnel the hero-mechs get along the journey and how they affect performance is always on my mind for the next scene. Even in this pencil-ink phase reminds me of some dents from before.
A pencil and partly-inked image of the RAV mk.III walking-tank mech suitsuspended in the air with a strong 'bubble' of wind. With the exception of its top shoulder-plate - which was splintered from an attack in the previous issue - the bird-like mech appears undamaged and its pilot inside just adapting to the amount of pressure the wind has in keeping his two-ton machine afloat.A (mostly) fully-inked version of the previous image but with more battle-damage and finer mechanical details. This version showcases a fair amount of damage the RAV mk.III has endured over five issues including acid burns on the right bicep and face, one cracked headlight and multiple bullet holes from at least three types of firearms. Finer details include eight power-winch ports, the canopy door, the bottom-moubted double barrels of the F3K-Precision rifle and more gusts of wind surrounding the entrapped mech.

Finally finished a page of Extinction Gear Issue 5, page 19 to be exact. It took me a longer time than usual to get the coloring done especially after using a separate image for one of the panels. I wound-up making a new image to fill and, incidentally, my first couple embracing!
An image of two Treizian men - Madrec and Källud- holding each other. Madrec is the biggest of the two with red plumage, deep-green skin, blue eyes, purple compound eye and yellow beak while Källud is smaller with blue plumage, orange skin, purple eyes, a red compound eye a dark gray beak and in-tact ungulate legs (only one shown). The two have their tails wrapped aroubd each other and while Källud nuzzles Madrec's arm, Madrec in-turn massages Källud's back-feathers. The image of a bookshelf can be seen underneath them as a transition from one scene to another.

This might be one of my favorite drawings and digital coloring for Issue 5 so far: a flashback depicting EG'S hero Deilas entertaining friends at home. I was very tempted to make it a Hat Party, but the image of Original Aliens in smoking jackets looking at Boxing reels is just as charming to me.
Original pencil and inking of an upcoming flashback in Issue 5 of Extinction Gear where the hero, Deilas Avlar, is entertaining a group of friends at home over a reel of Boxing games won by a fellow comrade-in-arms. Deilas and his fellows are clad in smoking jackets with the exception of Deilas himself and his robot-buddy KC-85: Deilas is sporting his Military Academy Varsity scarf while KC is sporting leg-warmers. All organic characters are smoking their choice of cigarette, pipe and cigar, again, with the exception of KC who can absorb it all. Near fully (digitally) colored version of the original drawing. The most notable exception is the full-colorization of Deilas' film-reel collection and the cabinets containing them. The background details have been reproduced mostly to save time (and spare talent, I'll admit), though consideration was put into the color.
Still, the screen is 'This Space Left Intentionally Blank' to make room for an upcoming panel. Also, the smoke from the three of four partiers are not visible in this version. It's important to note that KC-85's leg-warmers are most present in color. I just wanted to ensure that, in my universe, robots love leg-warmers.

Something I've been meaning to do before the year was up finally happened: I got stickers printed and available for purchase @sourcherrycomics.bsky.social Big thanks to @stickerninja.bsky.social for the help. May art continue to be my protest and contribution against Collective Punishment.
A pile of stickers depicting the planet Earth symbolically kicking the abbreviation for Artificial Intelligence with a woman's black pleather Goth boot. "No Room For AI" is the slogan. A pile of stickers depicting a pudgy agent of I.C.E. getting hit in the face with a hand-peopelled grinder/subway sandwhich with tears under his shades, his baton flying along with sliced onions and a sponge of mustard behind him. "The Onions! The Mustard!" is the slogan in reference to armed cowards. A pile of stickers depicting a man's left hand flipping-off an encroaching tank based-off a real-life post of a Lebanese civilian flipping off an Israeli tank. "Stand Your Ground" is the encouragement of all oppressed people everywhere.

Two days ago, I finished page 17 of Issue 5, something I thought impossible before the year was up. I close this year out doing what I love: working on the next page. I'll keep trying to do what's just however I can no matter how feeble. Like my main characters: I'm no hero. But I'll keep trying.
Dramatic shot of Deilas verbally confronting Madrec. Both men are in their mech, but are visible to the reader w/o bracing or concealing protective gear for effect. Deilas is poised in tense anger as if ready to pounce Madrec, whom is aghast at Drilas' words.Dramatic shot of Madrec angry and shouting while in his mech, the Fuljiko. The Fuljiko's left arm is moving down swiftly and poised a fellow mech operator (off-screen) with streak of red in the action-lines from the dried blood of a previously slain combatant. Madrec's head is significantly larger than average in this shot for visual effect. The background is a colored'pen abstract representing Madrec's callousness as he explains his reasons for a crime he's being stopped at attempting. Blue pencil draft of the following page. Deilas motions with his mech's arm as he addresses the cracks on Madrec's beak. Despite Madrec being concealed in his mech and wearing a helmet, the image of his bare face is visible to both reader and Deilas, the latter knowing his comrade in arms well.Blue pencil draft of Deilas talking Madrec down from within his mech, the RAV mk.III. Madrec appears on Deilas' HUD communications screen with his helmet on, but Deilas' is gone (lost in a previous issue). Deilas' posture is defensive, but open as he motions with his mech's arm manipulator to his chest. His expression is mixed with anger and humility as he talks his partner down.

A profile pic of Extinction Gear's hero, Lt. Deilas Avlar.
Deilas in his civilian-life and attire along with some details about himself. A few clips from issues 3 and 4...One of my favorite interactions from issue 2 to show Deilas' personality: he's memorized many of his friend's qoutes and is quick to use their own words against them.Of all the aesthetics on Deilas in this profile pic, the wrist bands should be the most noted...

So in advertising local stores when they are in full stock of my comic, I've taken to drawing a picture of one of its characters presenting the photo of the displayed issues. I was thinking of doing it here on Bluesky, tho not sure how many SF locals use BlueSky... Regardless, here they are.
Deilas, our troubled but professional hero...Tophie, the mysterious owner of several audio-logs the team finds during their mission...Irsha, the dirty-minded comic relief......and Madrec, the foul-mouthed, quick-tempered heavy-weight.

An early drawing of Deilas (possibly from 2014) followed-up with pencils and ink of him from three years ago, featured in the latest issue.
One of the first and oldest rough inks of Deilas I did, probably back in 2014. Incomplete, but it still says a lot about the character. A sort of step-by-step of Deilas in his mech. The first draft sketch of one panel......then inking over in finer detail.

So, to hell with it: I'll be on BlueSky more! I still have a heart and my art so you'll be seeing it more here (IG is toxic anyway). Below are some pics of Extinction Gear's hero Lt. Deilas Avlar, penciled, penned, digitally colored and po'd! All were featured in the latest issue. Enjoy!
Deilas Avlar, the protagonist of Extinction Gear, fully colored and engaging the enemy (from within his mech).I always depend on blurry backgrounds to bring sharper focus to the subject. Does it look cheap? Yeah, kinda. I'm more upset I kinda miffed it on Deily's right collar bone...The original pencil and ink of Deilas turning in the heat of combat.

A rough scribble of a poster I've always wanted to do for the comic. Took me years, but I finally came up with a draft. For context, the patron and butler are villains, the main courses are the heroes mech and said heroes are pests.

WIP: the main character of EG in his military academy days. Made a reference to it in Issue 4 and decided to explore the concept deeper (e.i: draw some of it). I like the capes as the cadet's cover instead of caps: it's hard to make hats for big snake-bird people.
