Binged the #jdrama SAI over the weekend. It was definitely one of the most eery and quietly creepy things I’ve watched in a long time. Highly recommended if you’re a fan of Japanese horror/psychological thrillers. Bonus points for it not being particularly gory. #asiandramas #netflix #horror

They briefly removed I Am Not a Robot from Viki earlier this year and it sent me into a panic (luckily they’ve brought it back!). That show is one of my comfort shows too, along with Touch Your Heart and Her Private Life.

The notion that a show must have numerous obvious Korean cultural markers in it for Westerners to deem it “Korean enough” is just crazy. That kind of demand is never placed on American or European shows…like you don’t hear “this show isn’t British enough bc they aren’t drinking enough tea in it”

Just like last week someone on Reddit was complaining that some kdrama wasn’t “Korean enough” bc the only overt nod to Korean “culture” in the series was when some of the characters ate gimbap. I was like what 😂😂?! The show was made by/for Koreans (tvN) and was a remake of a 90s Japanese show!

I still haven’t seen a version that tops the late 90s movie Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Geller, Ryan Phillipe and Reece Witherspoon. But I keep watching new versions/interpretations bc it’s interesting to see all of the nuanced takes on the original.

I wasn’t aware of all of that. The denial is what made this 100x worse. In crisis comms we have a saying “own it, explain it, promise it.” She/her agency should’ve confirmed it, apologized profusely + then had her make a sizable donation to some korean history foundation or something for good will.

I think this is kinda ridiculous. I recently found out my great-great grandfather was a slave owner and on my mom’s side I’ve got a great grandmother from Germany that has never been clear about her activities in pre-WWII Germany. Of course i condemn whatever these ancestors did.

Moving is amazing! I love how it explores the themes of family ties and parental love/sacrifice through the lens of people with superpowers. I wish k-drama studios would go back to making longer shows like this one. Everything now is only 6-12 eps. 😩
