@sylviagarcia.house.gov, @repcasar.bsky.social, and my are simple: Every immigration enforcement officer must have a working body camera, must be properly trained on how to use it, and be held accountable when that camera isn’t used.

Over and over, we’ve seen DHS agents resort to deadly violence. When we demand to see the body cam footage, we get the same excuses. NO MORE. We deserve the truth about why cameras weren’t deployed during these shootings, including the one that took the life of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.

“Voluntary commitments”? “Almost like a constitution”? “Morally binding”? You know what that sounds like? A pinky promise—the kind a kid makes when they have no intention of keeping it. We’re supposed to trust these billionaires racing to build the world’s most powerful systems? Gimme a break.

Not only will the number of SNAP-eligible students decrease, but federal reimbursements simply can't keep up with the rising costs of food, equipment, and labor. This is squarely on Trump and Republicans. I’ll say it again: They care more about tax breaks for billionaires than feeding families.

The Big Ugly Bill kicked 23K Mainers off SNAP—including 7K kids. Many will now have to rely on school meals. But here's the thing: Households that participate in SNAP are certified for federal reimbursement for school meals. That means Maine's free school lunch program could be severely impacted.

Last Friday, the White House announced it was “canceling” ~$1 billion in funding already approved by Congress. The President CANNOT claw back funding just because he wants to. That is not how the Constitution works. Even some Republicans are calling bullshit. We need more of them to grow a spine.

He’s also just flat-out desperate. He knows Americans are pissed, that his approval rating is lower than ever, and that Republicans are about to “find out” just how unpopular their destructive policies are. Add this to the long list of flagrantly illegal activity Democrats will be investigating.

Let’s be clear: It is ILLEGAL to pay for campaign ads with taxpayer money. There's a whole bunch of federal laws specifically designed to prevent this! The seething, sinister vibes are just as alarming. He really does see himself as above silly things like “the law” and “campaign ethics.”

Amazing how quickly Republicans’ tune changes when they have to answer to their angry constituents. Trump’s war in Iran? Too costly. Sweeping immigration crackdown? Gone too far. Naming memorials after himself? Not right. Speaker Johnson, enough hiding from voters. Bring the House back to DC!

We know what their real motivation was: tax cuts for billionaires and huge corporations. Between the surging costs of heating oil and groceries and the Admin's cuts to SNAP, this winter is going to cause needless suffering for far too many. Republicans’ disastrous policies are squarely to blame.

The Big Ugly Bill is looking uglier every day. Per @mecep.bsky.social, the number of Mainers enrolled in SNAP has fallen by 23K—including 7K kids. Republicans insisted they were tackling "waste, fraud and abuse" by implementing stricter work rules. The number of Mainers working has barely budged.

Mainers could’ve seen a huge investment in solar to help them save money. Instead they’ll be paying hundreds or thousands more for oil this winter. What Trump has done is illegal, morally bankrupt, and totally detached from reality. I’m calling on the EPA to comply and reinstate these grants NOW.

The #1 problem the Kennedy Center has is Trump, who took an institution with a $40M surplus and ran it into the ground. Instead of figuring out ways to lower costs or how to get out of his stupid war, Trump is obsessing over his vanity projects—and throwing tantrums when he doesn’t get his way.
