Off the shelf for #RandomGameSaturday, it's Split/Second - maybe my favorite racing game ever. It came out in May of 2010 alongside Alan Wake, Blur, Lost Planet 2, Alpha Protocol and Red Dead Redemption. Can you guess which of those games didn't get completely annihilated in sales?

Wubbadubbadubba is that true? For #RandomGameSaturday, Rhythm Heaven Fever for Nintendo Wii. A real hidden gem for the platform that I’m surprised isn’t talked about more.

This week for #RandomGameSaturday is Raiden Fighters Aces - a compilation of the three Raiden Fighters arcade games for the Xbox 360. Sadly not backwards compatible with modern Xbox platforms.

For #RandomGameSaturday , Darkstalkers Chronicle. Amazing box art that reminds me that I think PSP was the peak of game packaging. Compact but not slight, solid plastic, and sleek minimal console branding that leaves a lot of room for great art while still being identifiable.

For #RandomGameSaturday, Maverick Hunter X on the PSP. This was actually the first Mega Man game I ever played - a remake of Mega Man X. 2D-to-polygon remakes don’t have the best track record, but I really loved this game. I think it’s generally well regarded among fans.

I chanced upon Rondo of Swords for #RandomGameSaturday. A deeply obscure tactical RPG for the NDS. The "hook" was that move/attack were consolidated in one action. Otherwise was not particularly memorable. Always felt like the NDS should have been more of a strategy/tactics powerhouse than it was.

This #RandomGameSaturday, I dug up MGS Portable Ops. Between the Ac!d spinoff series well known for its oddness, and the actually canonical Peacewalker, Portable Ops is the "forgotten" MGS game on PSP, although it has a multiplayer-focused "expansion" (Portable Ops Plus) that is even more obscure.

I pulled out something for #RandomGameSaturday - Crush for the PSP. A puzzle platformer with a weird art style and an unusual reality warping mechanic that came out right before that sort of game blew up in the indie scene. Still one of my favorite PSP games.

I got to thinking after the 30th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 and realized that my favorite game for the system was Wave Race 64. Even considering it's up against titles like Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time that defined 3D gaming. I wrote more about it on my blog: airships.blog/2026/08/15/w...

Banzai!!! With the N64 just hitting its 30th anniversary, I started thinking about my favorite games and one surprisingly stood out from the rest: Wave Race 64. I know it might sound crazy to call …

As someone who still irrationally thinks the Virtual Boy is cool, the requirement to have the accessory is a huge bummer. I would rather try to play these without the 3D effect on the handheld screen and deal with whatever problems that may create. I really want to minimize nerd clutter right now.

24 years later, “Never Forget” must mean action. Tens of thousands of 9/11 survivors and first responders live with cancers and illnesses from toxic air they were told was safe. Congress must permanently fund the World Trade Center Health Program. We cannot let them down.
